Great Crusade era War Hounds Space Marine

Ok - so it's new project time.
Yes I know the Dreamforge Mech isn't done, but I had an inspiration - a bolt from the blue.
So a while back I was working on that Consecrator Space Marine in an attempt to find an interesting chapter. But his left me with a problem - they weren't around pre-heresy and I really want to do something pre-heresy!
So who better than a Space Marine Legion that no longer exists?
Yes, the War Hounds - precursor to the World Eaters (which every man and his dog seem to be painting at the moment). They got me curious that's for sure, so I broke out the paints, did a whole lot of reading and did this

Juggling Your Hobby

There's a great little article on Bell of Lost Souls this week about juggling your hobby and the world around you.
As I read I was pleasantly surprised to learn it was written by someone in the real word, a mother of 3, Jennifer Aspden.
It's refreshing to read this from not only a woman's perspective (you must admit, a rare thing in the hobby arena) but also someone who has to juggle a family.

Interesting New Mech-based Kickstarter

It's called Ashes - Dark Side of the Moon and originates in China.
Seems like an interesting game system, and oddly the mechs are made from cardboard - and sadly is the only thing holding me back from getting involved frankly.

There's quite an interesting little Kickstarter happening right now, and if you're a fan of mecha, this might be for you.

In the end of 21st century, at the dark side of the moon, the space mercenaries fight for resources for their employers. Armored mechanical MAP (Mobile Armor Platform) which can replace the module as required to show their power here. Battlefield commanders can use varieties of MAPs which are composed of different kinds of modules product by multiple vendors to obtain their victory in battle.

Apart from the unusual decision to use cardboard for the mechs, it looks like an interesting idea, and the designs are great!
So what do you think? Will you get involved with this cardboard model-based system?

TitanFall - a New Inside Look

As you may remember from my previous post on TitanFall - I am very very excited by this game.
When it was previewed at E3, it was THE only redeeming thing about the XBox One launch.
Now, happily it will also be on PC, so that purchase has been delayed!
Well today this video was released showing the kit-bashing it took to design the mechs and some awesome looking 1/6 scale figures. Check this out!!

Star blazers 2199 - a must on blu-ray!

To be honest, I've had limited success with animation on Blu-Ray.
From experience it';s generally not much better than normal DVD, or if it's a classic animation often Blu-Ray brings out the flaws.
BUT - Star Blazers 2199 is by far the most impressive Blu-Ray animated release I have ever seen.

Pacific Rim - just another big action movie?

Giant robots in a film?
Why yes please!
Is it directed by Michael Bay?
No?!
Definitely!

Lets be honest, Michael Bay ruined the potential of giant robot movies when he destroyed the Transformers franchise.
But has Pacific Rim brought the idea of giant robots back into the hearts and minds of civilians?
