Forge World Legion Medusa Released!

Just on three weeks ago Forge World released a whole lot of images of some smashing new products none of us really knew existed - in fact we had it up before anyone else.
Well today, the resin powerhouse have announced the release of their brand new Legion artillery piece, the Medusa, and it's a sexy beast!

One of the heavy artillery units available to the Legiones Astartes is the Medusa, which carries a short ranged but extremely powerful siege mortar capable of breaching all but the thickest walls. When a breach has been secured, the Medusa will then rumble forwards to support the assault, levelling buildings with a single shell.

The Legion Medusa, designed by Blake Spence, is a complete multi-part resin and plastic kit that includes two Legiones Astartes crew in MkIV power armour.

Megabloks Call of Duty SEAL Team Review

You may remember our last foray into the Mega Bloks Call of Duty sets, well today it's time for the 2nd set in the series - the SEAL Team.
I'm going to start this off by fessing up; this was not my fovourite of the Call of Duty sets - the idea of water guys just seems to limiting, considering how often we see SEAL Teams in land ops these days - so what did I think of them?

Dreamforge Eisenkern Valkir Preview

We are smashingly in love with Dreamforge here and here is yet another reason to send love their way!

For followers of the long-gone Kickstarter, here are the next infantry models for Eisenkern coming your way. For the rest of us... well all we can do is wait!

The box contents - check out the alternate heads. There will also be extra components for the Kickstarter backers - can't believe I missed it by a day!

More assault rifles and some big ol' heavy HEAVY weapons! Smash-a-dee-doo-dah!

Bit hard to make out, but here are the options for the tabbard and waist pouches. man those assault rifles rock my world!

These models are somewhat more static than their counterparts, but they are heavy weapons - no one is going to be running with those guns!

2014 - the Battlefleet Gothic & Epic 40K Predictions Edition

It's started to float around the net now, and it seems like the rumours might be pointing to my earlier predictions about the return of Battlefleet Gothic and potentially Epic 40K.

Epic 40K went through a fair few incarnations, initially starting as Space Marine and Adeptus Mechanicus, it eventually ended it's existence as Epic: Armageddon with little love from Games Workshop but a still loyal if diminished following.
The minis were available from GW at a high price and the community still bubbled along.The rumours of the so called "Knights" game could point to the return of the smaller titans from 1st and 2nd edition of Epic 40K.

The real buzz at the moment is to do with Battlefleet Gothic, something that I have thought might be coming back for some time.Battlefleet Gothic provided players with the ability to stage space battles between fleets of ships.
There were fleets for the Imperium, Chaos, Orks, the Eldar and later Space Marines, Dark Eldar, the Tau (including their Auxilary forces (Squats), the Tyranid and the Necron. The level of detail on the ships was amazing and some incredible books were produced to supplement the system.

Two great systems with strong communities - so why bring it back now?

Australian Games Workshop Prices Are Outrageous!

Everyone loves Games Workshop, right? The universe is awesome and the miniatures are great.
With that in mind - one thing people always complain about is the pricing.
But before you complain too much about the prices of Games Workshop in your neck of the woods - take a moment for those of us in Australia or New Zealand.
For some time now Games Workshop have been taking Australasian gamers for a ride with prices that don't bear any resemblance to those of the US and UK.
The latest Tyranid releases are a prime example:

If we go purely by today's exchange rate -
Tyranid Swarm should be $200.60 AUD
Carnifex Brood should be $105.08 AUD

In an age of an ever shrinking world via the joys of the internet, do they really think that this is the way to keep customers?

Painting Miniatures in Australia

Squeezing as much painting into the short time we have between work and family and sleep can be a challenge, but at least those of us in Australia have the weather on our side.
Yesterday was 35 degrees celsius/ 95 degrees fahrenheit which meant in a very short amount of time I could get a whole lot done.
I was able to get all of the blue & white based, shaded and highlighted on my next War Hound Space Marine done plus most of the base colours on all the other parts - as much as hot weather sucks, it's great for painting!

Four hours in - all the blue and white shaded and done, plus the base colours done for all the other bits (minus the black).

Add another 2 hours and the shading on the metallics are done, the decal is on the shoulder and the blacks are also all done.

Word of Warning: Do not put Citadel Finecast in the hot sun to dry - it will melt!

New Helmets for Blacklight Retribution

I've just started playing Blacklight Retribution on the PC, and what a cool game!
If you're into First Person Shooters - this is a game you have to try!

Part of the success of the Blacklight Retribution is the complete customisation options you have for your character - from helmets to armour to colours and of course, fully customisable guns!

Well today they have released details of some brand new helmets that go on sale on January 28th.

TItanfall Accessories - Just take My Money!

Titanfall continues to be THE hot thing in gaming for 2014. It stole the show at E3 and every other gaming show since, and the dudes over at Respawn have started to merchandise!
They have teamed with Microsoft for a Titanfall themed controller which will supposedly hit the streets on February 13th (US anyway) and pricing seems to be around $90rrp.

But it's not just this super-sexy controller.

Ramshackle Games Miniature Review

In the never ending search for cool miniatures it's time to head away from the usual and try a company you would have seen around for a while but maybe haven't dived into yet - Ramshackle Games.
Ramshackle make a really diverse and interesting bunch of stuff, from fantasy Orcs to post-apocalyptic bikers and soldiers to a bloody cool chess set.

Even looking through their site today I saw this really cool Goblin War Giant - WANT!
Recently you may have seen their Kickstarter for their Brothers of Iron line - and that's what I'm looking at today in our review.
I really like the designs for the Brothers of Iron so was eager to get my hands on them...

Are the Mysterious Carcharodons Actually War Hounds?

While doing some research into anything I could find out about the War Hounds Space Marines, I ran across something interesting.During the Great Crusade, the War Hounds Space Marine Legion was split up into smaller units and sent out into the galaxy.

When the War Hounds were reunited with their Primarch and became the World Eaters, it wasn't the entire Legion - my theory is that the elements that later returned to the bosom of the Empire became the Carcharodon Space Marines.

Fantasy Flight Games - X-Wing Imperial Aces Preview

You may remember that back in September, Fantasy Flight Games announced the release of the Imperial Aces expansion for X-Wing. Not only is it a cool idea, but the set includes two very nicely painted TIE interceptors representing the fighters of the 181st Imperial Fighter Wing and the Emperor’s Royal Guard. Yes, that's right - the Emperors's Royal Guard!
I haven't played the game, but the way Fantasy Flight is expanding the Star Wars universe is really cool!

The legendary members of the 181st Imperial Fighter Wing, also known as the Saber Squadron, are masterful pilots, always able to position themselves perfectly for the kill.

While the Saber Squadron operates as a finely-honed team, the Royal Guard has no need for such camaraderie. They are ruthless killers, trained to neutralize any threat.

Our friends over at The Combat Company have a damn good price on this set too...

2000AD Rogue Trooper Miniatures

Have you ever read 2000AD? Back in the 80's it was the bomb-diggity of comics!
Sure there was Judge Dredd and Bad Company, but fr me the coolest comic was Rogue Trooper!
He's a genetically enhanced GI on a world scarred by biological and chemical war.
On one side you have the Norts and the other the Southers - they're pretty much as bad as each other except the Norts are kind of fascists!

So anyway - enough of the lovefest - Warlord Games have brought out some super cool minis of Rogue Trooper plus a Nort and a Souther trooper.

Onslaught Miniatures Review

A few weeks back we looked at the great little miniatures from Onslaught Miniatures.
Now that Games Workshop have abandoned the Epic fans, even though rumours persist of the return of Battlefleet Gothic (stop drooling, Rob!), those interested have to go somewhere and Onslaught seem to be a great alternative.
If you're not sure what Epic is, it was a 6mm games system from games Workshop that meant you could field massed ranks of infantry, tanks and titans all in one game.
Sure it was fiddly, but it had a real fan base! So here's Onslaught picking up the mantle and going forth to conquer!
