These really are worth a look, especially at other sellers.
As we wait for the Horus Heresy release next week, Games Workshop have finally listed the next Joy Toy action figures in the series. These have been available for some time at retailers, and cheaper I might add, so do look around and see the prices as they are very competitive compared to the ones listed today. I have had the Blood Angels Death Company Intercessors for a few months, and they're awesome. They pose nicely, they are very steady and the paint jobs are solid and very good compared to many other action figure lines around. If black isn't your thing, then you can go for the Ultramarines Intercessors and their witchy-poo Primaris Librarian. These really are worth a look, especially at other sellers.

Okay - broken record, bear with me! The price on GW's Joy Toy releases are crazy. This new Invictor Tactical Warsuit, on pre-order today is $400+. Now you may say "it's big and it's good quality", and yes, you are indeed correct. But I recently bought the JoyToy Fear V battle suit, also 1/18 scale and it was under half that price, over twice the size and has many many more pieces. Do I want to buy some JoyToy Space Marines? Yes! Will I? Yes! But not as many as I would have if hey were a decent price... just wait. The pre-order prices for one of the new figures (yet to be listed by GW) is $90 US. GW is not buying these at retail prices, remember, and adding their markup. Anyway, you've heard it all before. JoyToy are AWESOME, GW's prices are crazy. Now that being said, the new Tau Empire Battleforce today includes the Ghostkeel, that alone is well over $100, plus you get Stealth Suits and more. This is not only great value, but the set the Tau community have been asking for. Well done, GW, you listened and delivered! Speaking of which, the Tau Ethereal this week, that is honestly a $20 mini - yeah, nah. Silliness! By far the best faction in Warhammer 40,000, the Tau Empire, have their new Codex on pre-order this week. It comes in two flavours - For The Weak We Defend Thee Collectors' Edition and the Liberation For All Standard Edition. Who knows how much of this book is just copy paste from the last one, thus the reluctance to buy! There are also T'au Empire Dice Set (in white and red, for some unknown reason, considering the Kill Team dice have black and orange. All they had to do was make the red orange and the two sets would have been awesome together! Urgh) and of course the Datacards. As mentioned above, we do have a new Combat Patrol for the Tau Empire which adds stealth rather than the power of the Battlesuits. The Start Collecting was an excellent set, for different reasons, but on the battlefield this set will pay dividends. There is also the Ethereal, now available separately at a ridiculous price. This is an ordinary mini, and honestly, as above, is very overpriced. In other 40K news, the conflict in Nachmund has kicked off with the new War Zone Nachmund: Vigilus Alone supplement - both Collectors' Edition and standard edition on pre-order, as is the new Crusade Mission Pack: Wars of Faith. Taking to the field in this mighty conflict that no one seems to be following, is the new Captain in Gravis Armour (shownhere in his alternate pose with no helmet and a two handed chainsword) and the Primaris Ancient (which has a two-handed banner holding option). Now the Sisters of the Adepta Sororitas are also on Nachmund, so they get dice for the Order of The Bloody Rose. Now here's a question - with Kill Team: Nachmund being previewed at LVO, will this be the first thing we see out of the recent (boring) Warhammer Reveal? Bring on the Eldar Pirates!!! Everyone's favourite sport/ deathmatch, Blood Bowl, has the 2021 Almanac on pre-order this week. The breakdown isn't that exciting, as it really only covers Spike! Journal issues 11 through 13. Alrighty, well here we are at the big non-game related product of the week and it's the very cool JOYTOY Vanguard Space Marines Ultramarines Invictor Tactical Warsuit. Yes it's awesome, comes with a dude, but have a look at that price! All I can say is look at other retailers as the price differs massively. Also on pre-order this week but not appearing for Australia and New Zealand is the new Darkstrider miniature, which is a vast improvement on the original. Unfortunately can't see if there's any options for this mini as yet. There's also the paperback release of Gitslayer, and the Warhammer Horror novel, Gothgul Hollow, which could be quite interesting actually!
All the Games Workshop elves are busy helping Santa this weekend, so there's no pre-orders, but we did get a pretty solid preview of the next line-up of Joy Toy action figures. Not only are there new Primaris - this time Space Wolves, but Chaos gets a look-in with Chaos Marines, Chaos Terminators and a Chaos Lord. The Chaos Terminators have helmeted and unhelmeted head options which will give variety to your growing Chaos horde.
As you may have read previously here, we are big fans of Joy Toy, and although there can be production delays (as we are seeing with the Incursor release), their products are high quality and much better than the McFarlane's rubbish that's being thrown out into the fandom. Unlike McFarlane, these figures are 1:18 scale (approximately GI Joe or Star Wars sized) and have great articulation, with double knee and elbow movement, rotating shoulder joits, ankles and more. They can be a little fragile, so these aren't for the kids, but for the rest of us this is a welcome addition to the action figure collection! The recent release of the JOY TOY Space Marines Ultramarines Incursors and Vanguard Space Marines Ultramarines Infiltrators Action Figures has caused a bit of a storm - actual well produced Games Workshop action figures, well that's a nice change!
Well you'll be happy to know there's more on the way. Courtesy of the MiniWars blog we have these pictures of the upcoming Blood Angels units, and they look pretty amazing. |
