A few weeks back I got a sizeable order from NOT Failcast to have a look at a wide variety of their stock. NOT Failcast have to be one of the larger recasters out there, and as recasting becomes more and more popular, it's important that we keep on top of what's out there.
Today I've got the Legion MKIII Despoiler Squad in all it's glory!

War Hounds Update - Non-Veteran Colours

If you've been keeping up to date with the ongoing War Hounds Space Marines Project, you may remember the issues around working out the colours for the War Hounds - the Great Crusade-era progenitors of the World Eaters Space Marines.
The only illustration so far is the one in The Horus Heresy: Book 1 Betrayal., and that is of a veteran rather than the standard Marine of it's time.
After much testing and an email to Forge World, I finally have the colours for the War Hounds Space Marines.

White Dwarf Issue #26 Review- Unleash the Stormfang!

This week's White Dwarf may have the second most derided release on it's cover since the release of this incarnation of White Dwarf - the Stormfang.
Now I'll put it out there - I quite like it. It's big and chunky and looks like it's dropped out of the sky purely due to it's weight. Could it use bigger engines? Yes, probably!
The Stormfang is is designed by the same guy who brought us the Hydra/ Wyveryn - Nic Ho - and as much as that kit was a bit boring., the Stormfang at least can't be called boring!
So from an issue dominated by this release there's also a War Diary update, the new limited edition Horus Heresy novel, lots of Space Wolves and Phil Kelly's Codex: Apocrypha. There's also an article on the Space Wolf Great Companies which one would hope means this will be explored further.

Victoria Miniatures Weapons Review

The weapons are of course meant for her own universe of miniatures, but are fully interchangeable with any other 28mm miniatures universe.

Giant Sized GIJoe? Oh Yes Please!

SDCC 2014 has just started and GIJoe fans have a lot to cheer about - jumbo-sized GIJoe figures!
Based on the original straight-armed 1982 figures, these continue the tradition of jumbo-sizing toy classics form the 1980s. These are also from Gentle Giant, the people who brought you the jumbo-sized Star Wars figures.
Luckily for GIJoe fans, the 80's GIJoe sculpts were not only better, but more articulated than their Star Wars brethren! It is a pity they went for the straight-=armed versions, but better than nothing!
These are COOL! Need - WANT!!

Stormfang/ Stormwolf Gunship revealed - Pics!

The past few days have been full of people talking about the new Space Wolf flyer, and today thanks to the Bell of Lost Souls Lounge we have some pictures. Not just grainy pictures, actual shots form the cover of the next White Dwarf!
It's the Stormfang Gunship
Built around the rare and ancient Helfrost Destructor, it can carry 6 Space Marines as well as being a ground attack or interdiction fighter depending on the weapons load you fit it out with. Missiles or Heavy Bolters - this thing is beasty!

Mini WH40K RuleBook - worth Buying Any of The New Sets For?

The release this week of the Stormclaw Boxed Set (now sold out BTW) and next week's Dark Vengeance includes a full set of the new 7th Edition Warhammer 40k The Rules rulebook.
When you look at it - that's great value;
Warhammer 40K 7th Edition (which also comes with 2 other books as well as The Rules) is $140. Stormclaw is $190, which includes The Rules and some very nice miniatures - quite a lot of very nice miniatures actually!
So for value we get a tick - but the version of The Rules in these boxed sets is a mini version.
We spoke about this a few weeks back when the Librarium Edition was released which includes all the current Codexes in a miniature form. Initially we though; cool! Then in retrospect the idea of having to look at all that detail and beautiful photography in such a small format dawned on us.
So with Stormclaw in hand and a copy of this mini The Rules - how does it stack up?

White Dwarf Issue #25 Review

WHite Dwarf is taking a bit of an interesting turn at the moment. Last week they were trumpeting about Storm Claw, and this week - the week of release - there's nothing about in White Dwarf at all!
There is however the re-release of Dark Vengeance, a brand new basing set and the Realm of Battle Sector Imperialis, plus (and wait for this) a Paint Splatter that is actually pretty useful!
There's also a nice article on painting your forces if you don't have much time (puts hand in the air...).
It's actually a very hobby-focussed edition of WHite Dwarf - so it that's your thing, buclke up and check this out!

New Horus Heresy Game Inbound!

Break out your mobile devices, because the Horus Heresy is coming courtesy of Complex Games.
The game is Horus Heresy: Drop Assault, a tactical strategy game on iOS and Android devices later this year. It's a bit cutesy - but you know you want to play it...

DreamForge Valkir Heavy Support Troops Sneak Peak!

NOT FailCast Clear Tau Stealth Suits Review

I'm going to fess up - I'm a big fan of the Tau!
So where's the section about Tau on the site? Well, to be honest, I suck at painting them! I can't find a colour scheme I like (nothing as good as these anyway!) and I have trouble getting my head into the Tau universe.
Hell knows why - I agree with their philosophy.
BUT thankfully I can at least have some Tau units that I don't need to significantly paint - the NOT Failcast Clear Tau Stealth Suits!
I first saw these months back and due to their popularity they are hard to find in stock! But here we have them, Stealth Suits the way they are meant to be - stealthy!
So how do they stack up?

Acid Rain World Laurel Mechs First Look!

Acid Rain World supreme head honcho Kit Lau put up two preview images of the upcoming Laurel mechs on his Instagram. These two appear in the Marine scheme rather than the Desert scheme that seems to be more popular. Also in the shot is the recently pre-orderable Raptor Speeder MK1.
These look brutal and will be in high demand!

Surprise Victoria Miniatures New Releases - Available NOW!

If you've been following Victoria Miniatures for a while, you will have seen some of these weapons hinted at for a while now - but in a surprise move, here they are all at once and available NOW!
These are perfect for her already sizeable range of miniatures, but are of course totally compatible with other 28mm miniatures. Any Imperial Guard player would be salivating right now!
Imagine your army with those AK Auto Rifles and a sniper team with the Sniper Rifle?!
And that Plasma Rifle? Best Steampunk Plasma Rifle EVER!

White Dwarf Issue #24 Review - Space Wolves!

It's one of the worst kept secrets in history - the Stormclaw Boxed set for the Sanctus Reach campaign for Warhammer 40K. It's been on the boil for a while, but really hit the rumour mill earlier this week with leaked shots from this very issue of White Dwarf.
But what else does this White Dwarf hold apart from a pretty boxed set with some screaming fanged guys and some cool looking greenskins? Well...
There's also the rules for Gerantius, the Forgotten Knight, one of the most striking Imperial Knights to be released with the recent kit from earlier this year. Jervis Johnson also looks at how playing cards can be used as battlefield strategems - but really this issue os all about Stormclaw!

Victoria Miniatures Tank Preview

Victoria Miniatures Facebook must have blown up this week as they previewed the much-hinted-at Matilda tank by Jake Schneider. Loosely based on the WWII Matilda tank, this looks just great. It's the first vehicle from Victoria Miniatures, even though there was an artillery piece previewed earlier this year.
So what do you think of this beauty? Personally I'd like a different gun (or options), but it's cool!
Be really interesting to see the different turret kitbashes people will do!

More Stormclaw Images - Krom Dragongaze & A Big Warboss!!

The Stormclaw Boxed Set is hotting up as THE big Warhammer 40K release with rumours and images all over the internet. Some of the best are from la Taberna de Laurana who today put up some really large images of next week's White Dwarf with some great sneak peak shots.
Both Krom Dragongaze and Grukk Face-Rippa are great looking models! It will be interesting to see if the Space Wolves are the current multi-part ones, or some horrible 3 part minis.
This is certainly looking like a great set! What do you think?!

Space marine vs Dreamforge Eisenkern

Dream Forge released a great image today for those eager to get more information on the upcoming Eisenkern Valkir. The image shows a scale comparison with a Space Marine, a pretty graphic example of the difference between Heroic Scale miniature from Games Workshop and the more Historic Scale of the Dream Forge miniatures.
I think these will be flying off the shelves!

NERF ZOMBIE STRIKE SLINGFIRE REVIEW

It's been six months since we first saw the Nerf Zombie Strike Slingfire and it with it hitting the shelves this week we have the first major release of 2014.
Nerf have been very quiet this year, and the Slingfire is not only a new blaster but also an addition to the so-far-excellent Zombie Strike line and this one comes with a twist, the wild west inspired lever reloading action. White Dwarf Issue #23 Review - Planetstrike is Back!!

Great news for fans of Planetstrike, the Warhammer 40,000 expansion - It's back in 7th Edition!.
Originally released back in 2009 as part of the 5th Edition, Planetstrike depicts WH40K battles centred around planetary invasions. This will have more than a few people buzzing!
But that's not the only expansion this week, there's also the preview of the Sanctus Reach narrative campaign centred around an Ork WAAARGH - and this, my eager friend, is where the new Planetsrike rules and missions are found.
There's also a look at some more Imperial Knight household schemes, how to plan a crusade and also a look at the new datasheets synonymous with the new Ork Codex. Do you want to know more?
