| The Rogue Trader is an integral part of the Warhammer 40K universe - effectively being the commercial expansion of the Imperium. Backed by money, and for all intents and purposes the might of the Imperium, the Rogue Trader also has his/ her own military forces. These can be anything from Imperial Guard or Space Marines attached to the expedition to full fledged private armies, mercenaries and even slaves! Well I decided to try something new and build myself a Rogue Trader retinue - an armed force to guard the Rogue Trader and when necessary take by force what they may need. Though not named, I have decided that this character is the former commander of the Sons of Pyre, a Planetary Defence Force unit from a fallen world who, with the remnants of his unit, have joined the Rogue Trader. |
I'm pleased how the orange came out, especially as I added layers of shading to make it pretty dirty from wear and tear. I wanted the blacks to be really black, so kept the shading down to a minimum. On his chest you will see the large shield - I thought having his Oath of Service visible was kind of interesting. This bonds him and his men into service with their new employer.
My next step will likely be a trooper to serve with him, but I'm hoping to also come up with some cool looking characters to really flesh out the rest of the retinue. Maybe some Kroot??
