The Vindicator is one of the iconic tanks of the 40K universe. With a design obviously influenced by some of the urban fighting vehicles of World War II, the Vindicator also serves the same purpose - to provide heavy firepower in tight urban battlefields while also giving cover and support to infantry. Taking this idea and adding a feature seen on the very first Rhino kits - a foot board and hand grips for infantry to use in order to ride on the exterior of the vehicle - like Motor Rifle Units of the Soviet Union and the Grenadiers of World War II Germany. I figured having my War Hounds Legion hanging off the side would be a pretty awesome look! + + More After The Jump + + |
The handrail is bed florists's wire (one of things you hold onto for years hoping it would be good for something one day) which was then simply slipped into drilled holes in the body of the Vindicator.
The foot boards were a touch more fiddly...
I then built up the sides and front to give it a bit of bulk, added some rivets that were trimmed from the underside of the Vindicator and it was done!
I did this with the exhaust pipes not attached (notice the black pen marks so I got the distance right!) so it was easier to place and trim. The undersides of the foot boards were also reinforced with more plasticard.
What do you think? Think it works? Have you done something similar?
