Necromunda relaunches this week with the new Warhammer Necromunda Skirmish: Core Set - which not only expands the rule set, but also includes 8 x new Escher Blades of the Matriarch miniatures and 8 x new Goliath Forge Smelters miniatures plus 5 x pieces of the new modular Zone Mortalis: Factoria Pipes terrain. Also included is the new hardcover 168-page Necromunda Skirmish: Core Rulebook, a softcover 32-page Starter Guide and Construction Booklet, a double-sided play mat, a folding range ruler, 3 x orange plastic templates, 8 x yellow Warhammer Necromunda dice, 8 x black Warhammer Necromunda dice, plastic double-sided condition and status markers, 88 x Gang Tactics and Campaign cards and 2 x Rules reference sheets. One this to note about this new edition is how they have taken a leaf out of the Kill Team rules and allowed each gang to now have specialist options, like Medic etc. These are options and you don't have to build them, but it's a nice new way to freshen up the game.
Smartly, Games Workshop have also released the Necromunda Skirmish: Core Rulebook separately. the 168-page hardback includes lore, the Core Rules, a full Necromunda Campaign, with Scenario Tables, a guide to Gang Tactics and Skills, and information on how the Trading Post works. This is the way into the new Necromunda system if you already have miniatures and you just want to rock and roll. It hasn't been fully stated how many changes there have been (though this article is a good guide), so serious players and newbies alike will likely need these next two books to complete the upgrade. Gangs of The Underhive covers the classic gangs inside the sprawling metropolis, so House Cawdor, Delaque, Escher, Goliath, Orlock, Van Saar, Palanite Enforcers, Venator Gangs, Corpse Grinder Cults, Justicar Courts, Hive Scum, Brutes, Hangers-on, and Pets. The other book, Gangs of The Outlands, covers the gangs you would find outside the metropolis, and who also make their way inside. They are not products of the hive city itself, but they too want to share in the bounty found inside. They also control the environs around any hive city! These gangs include, Outcast Gangs, Free Ogryn Gangs, Genestealer Cults and Genestealer Corrupted Gangs, Chaos Helot Cults and Chaos Corrupted Gangs, The Malstrain and Malstrain Corrupted Gangs, Spyre Hunting Parties, Ironhead Squat Prospectors, Ash Waste Nomad Gangs, Dramatis Personae, Brutes, Hangers-on, Ridgehaulers, and Pets.
Games Workshop have also repackaged and conglomerated some existing gangs for those who want a ready to play set, or those who need reinforcements. The Escher Underhive Crew includes 10 x Escher Gang fighters, 2 x Escher Death-Maidens, 4 x Wyld Runners, 4 x Phelynx and the Escher Weapons & Upgrades set. The Goliath Underhive Crew has 10 x Goliath Gang fighters, 2 x Goliath Stimmers, 4 x Goliath Forge-Born fighters and the Goliath Weapons & Upgrades set. Van Saar Underhive Crew has 10 x Van Saar Gang fighters, 2 x Van Saar Archeoteks, 4 x Van Saar Grav-Cutters and the Van Saar Weapon & Upgrades set. The Orlock Underhive Crew features 10 x Orlock Gang fighters, 4 x Orlock Wreckers, 2 x Orlock Arms Masters, 2 x and the Orlock Weapons & Upgrades set. The Cawdor Underhive Crew is an interesting one, combining 10 x Cawdor Gang fighters with 6 x Redemptionist fighters and the Cawdor Weapons & Upgrades set. Last but not least, the Machiavellian Delaque Underhive Crew includes 10 x Delaque Gang fighters, 2 x Nacht-Ghuls, 2 x Psy-Gheists, 2 x Psychoteric Wyrms, 1 x Piscean Spektor and the Delaque Weapons & Upgrades set. Having the Weapons & Upgrades set in each gang box is excellent and really expands the armament of your gang members. If you'd like fancy bases for your gangers, there's also the Warhammer Necromunda 50mm Bases (which has 3 x Necromunda 50mm Round Bases) and the Warhammer Necromunda 28.5mm Bases (with  10 x Necromunda 28.5mm Round Bases). This is a massive reduction from the old boxes that had dozens. 
The five-piece set of terrain in the new Core Set is also available in an expanded form, with the Warhammer Necromunda: Zone Mortalis Factoria Pipes which includes a Promethium Flow Valve, Overseer Pulpit, Promethium Generator, Auto-Siphoning Valve, Hyrillic Crank, 2 x Pipe Ends and a Pnumaticum Regulator.
There's also more Necromunda stuff, with the Warhammer Necromunda Conditions & Status Markers, Necromunda Skirmish Core Gang Tactics Cards (giving you 18 reference cards to help you keep track of the core Gang Tactics you can use for your gang) and the Necromunda Skirmish Campaign and Scenario Cards (which is 52 cards which allow you to randomly generate a Territory and a Scenario).

Games Workshop have none-too-subtly launched the second edition of Warhammer: The Old World, by not technically saying "new edition" but having everything that constitutes a new edition. First clue it's a new edition is a new Core Set, and this time it's the Warhammer: The Old World – Fantasy Battles In the World of Legend Core Set (quite a mouthful!). Happily this set brings together one of (if not THE) classic factions, and the newest, all in one box to create what is a great looking set! In one corner we have the fabled, famed, glorious Warriors of Chaos which includes an Aspiring Champion on a Daemonic Mount, Aspiring Champion with Battle Standard, 16 x Chaos Warriors and 4 x Chaos Knights. Personally we're really hoping these don't replace the current Age of $igmar Chaos Warriors, because these newer Old World ones aren't really hitting home. The horses are excellent and based on a much older Chaos Mount from decades ago, in fact looking closer at these new plastic Chaos Warriors I can't help but notice there are some real similarities to the Chaos Warriors Regiment from 1998, especially in the helmets and shoulders, even some of the weapon poses. Maybe the designers took influence from a previous multi-part multi-pose Warhammer kit that was also able to be ranked - either way, these guys are a little hit and miss, apart from the Champions and Standard Bearer which are absolutely spectacular! The opposing side are the Armies of Grand Cathay - a truly spectacular force with some amazing models. In this set you get a Gate Keeper on a Cathayan Warhorse, Gate Keeper with Battle Standard, 20 x Jade Warriors, 5 x Jade Lancers and a Cathayan Grand Cannon with Ogre Loader and 3 Crew. All of these are excellent and really should be loved by everyone. The details, the different cultural references from China, Korea and Japan, even Mongolian have been so lovingly added mixed together. Can not wait to see the Tiger Warriors coming for this faction soon. The rest of the box is a full hardcover 352-page Warhammer: The Old World Rulebook, with rules updates etc (also available separately this week), army lists for the Warriors of Chaos and the Armies of Grand Cathay, a double-sided folding playmat, double-sided rules reference sheets, 3 x plastic templates, a foldable 12" range ruler and white dice with black pips, including 18 six-sided dice, 1 artillery dice, and 1 scatter dice. This is a great set to split with a friend or family member so you both get started with a faction. Also this week in Warhammer: The Old World, we have the new Warhammer: The Old World Rulebook which is touted as a "revised edition" and includes rule clarifications from the online errata and FAQs, plus it has the the Core Rules for Battle March. And speaking of, let's have a look at the Warhammer: The Old World – Battle March: General's Companion. This is an expansion book built around the narrative campaign fought within the Axe Bite Pass and allows you to play smaller-scale Battle March games including leading leading raiding parties, vanguards, and outriders. What's really interesting is that this book is Armies of Grand Cathay vs Orcs, which makes us wonder if the new Orcs aren't ready and were meant to be the opposing army in the new edition launch box. With this "revised edition" comes the new Lores of Magic Reference Card Pack which gives you cards to help you keep track of your spells, and the Common Magic Items Reference Card Pack which allows you to keep an inventory of your common magic items. Man, I love Warhammer: The Old World so much! I wish I had the time and energy to build a force!!! 
Moving into another Fantasy realm, we have some new additions to the world of Tolkien with the Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game: The Burning of the Westfold. This new expansion provides a linked campaign of 11 Narrative Scenarios, set in the world of The Lord of the Rings: Motion Picture Trilogy. The book also gives you some hobby advice on how to create settlements using the Rohan House kit, a painting guide for horses, and a terrain hobby tutorial for creating the Plains of Rohan and the Fords of Isen. With this release we get some new plastic Middle-earth minis as well, including the spectacular Warriors of Rohan Commanders and Riders of Rohan, plus their sworn adversaries, the Hill Tribesmen Commanders. Premium pricing on these guys, so be aware!
There's some classic metal Made to Order this week with one of the best minis GW has ever produced, the Classic Mercenary Ogre Captain, the very old school Classic Mercenary Ogres with Hand Weapons and another absolute classic, the Classic Mercenary Ogres with Great Weapons, the more-recent and very nice ​Orc Raiders, plus old school cuteness, the Baby Dragons. Also in this small Made to Order wave is the multipart metal and plastic Baggage Train Carts kit - massive kudos to whomever painted one of these horses to look like Donkey from Shrek. Honestly, high five for the sense of humour!

Are you tired of the same old battlefields? Those flat plains, wrecked buildings - they're pretty same-old same-old, right? Well there is another way to play, especially in the Horus Heresy, and it's called Zone Mortalis! Contested inside starship corridors, breached fortresses or even packed urban settings, Zone Mortalis is urban warfare on a new level, and has been a mainstay of the Horus Heresy community for decades. Well this week the new Journal Tactica: Zone Mortalis goes up for pre-order and is packed with core and special rules for how to play on and around the terrain that personifies Zone Mortalis, plus rules for Zone Mortalis Reserves, Advanced Reactions, and Cogitator Terminals. There's also six new missions along with new Primary and Secondary Objectives, Primary Detachments, and maps, and - most excitingly - new profiles for Veteran Breacher Squads, Veteran Despoiler Squads, Veletaris Raider Sections, Auxilia Combat Technician Sections, and the Castellax Infernus Maniple. Moving onto Warhammer 40K, we have some Imperial Guard reinforcements on pre-order this week too, with Ciaphas Cain back on the battlefield! Packed with character, Ciaphas Cain and his trusty pal Jurgen, are both brilliant miniatures and sure to be popular. The other exciting Imperial Guard releases this week are the Hippogriff AFV and Centaur RSV - ripped straight from the pages of World War 2, these vehicles add extra light armour and transport to your Guard units. Are they original designs? NO! Should they be? Probably yes! The Centaur comes with crew and some configuration options, while the Hippogriff has op0tions for the main gun, including a vigilator cannon, Chiron gatling cannon, melta cannon, or heavy lascannon. 
This week also sees four new Battleforces on pre-order, with the Battleforce: Astra Militarum Platoon sporting a Commissar, 5 x Cadian Command Squad miniatures, 2 x Field Ordnance Teams, a Rogal Dorn Battle Tank, a Basilisk (God this model is old!) and 10 x Cadian Shock Troops. The Battleforce: Chaos Space Marines Warband includes a Lord Discordant on Helstalker, 2 x Obliterators, a Venomcrawler, 10 x Legionaries and 20 x Chaos Cultists. The Battleforce: Necron Host is an interesting one and well worth your attention, with a Catacomb Command Barge/ Annihilation Barge, a Canoptek Doomstalker, 3 x Ophydian Destroyers, 5 x Flayed Ones, 20 x Necron Warriors and 6 x Canoptek Scarab Swarms. The Battleforce: Tyranid Swarm is a nightmare on legs, with a Hive Tyrant/ Winged Hive Tyrant/ Swarmlord, a Lictor, 3 x Tyranid Warriors, 3 x Von Ryan's Leapers, 10 x Hormagaunts, 10 x Termagants and 2 x Ripper Swarms.
In books this week we once again have the The Sabbat Worlds Crusade (is this V.20?), the original Space Marines vs Orks battle but in narrative form with the Rynn's World Special Edition, the Illustrated and Annotated Edition Hardback of For the Emperor, plus Vagabond Squadron, Krakenblood, and Starseer's Ruin all in paperback. 
There's some merch this week with the Valhallan Regimental Banner. It's 42cm x 60cm so it's not going to take up too much room, but probably neat for Guard players.

It only seems like last week we had Indomitus, then Leviathan, and now Armageddon - Games Workshop seem to be dropping new editions of Warhammer 40,000 like it's going out of style! So much so that we're up to Warhammer 40,000 11th Edition, and this week sees the launch by Games Workshop of the Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon box, following what has been a fairly lacklustre build-up, mainly involving some of the most boring videos ever created - absolutely zero enthusiasm from anyone involved!     
SO what's in this Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon box you ask? We have sixty one new multipart (YAY!) plastic (YAY!) push-fit (urgh, yuck!!) miniatures, giving you 23 x Space Marines
led by a Captain with Relic Shield, a Librarian, a Chaplain with Jump Pack and a new dynamic Ancient with banner. Your troops are 10 x new Intercessors who, despite promises, look exactly like every other boring Primaris model - which is a huge shame because the tweaks that have been made to Primaris (see the Space Wolves set) were really interesting! It's also very disappointing to have these constantly pushed forward as being amazing - me thinks they are overselling something they know is pretty poor. On the other end of the spectrum we have the 5 x new Vanguard Veterans with Jump Packs, excitingly sporting the Crux Terminatus for the first time on power armour in many years. These are dynamic and great additions to anyone's force. We also have 3 x Eradicators with Heavy Bolters in suitably strong poses, though not really exciting. The vehicle is a newly reimagined Land Speeder with a multi-melta, onslaught gatling cannon/ heavy flamer, and a stormfury missile launcher, which is nice to see this in a smaller format than the previous one. On the other end of the battlefield there are thirty eight Orks led by a large Warboss, a Bannernob, a Bigboss, Painboy and a Weirdboy - something for all the Ork players there! Your troops are 20 x Ork Boyz, and 10 x Gretchin, and these aren't your traditional push-fit single option minis, there is some customisability with torsos and head swaps possible. The Orks have two vehicles - the Wartrakk and a very cool Big Mek Dakkarig! 
Aside from miniatures we also have the hardcover Armageddon: Operation Imperator book which gives you the forces at play and what's going on, plus we have the softcover Core Rules booklet, the Chapter Approved 2026-27: Mission Deck, the Dominatus Narrative Campaign Deck, Armageddon Datasheet Cards for every unit contained within this box, and the Armageddon Transfer Sheet with markings for both Marines and Orks. 
That's it - that's the launch box. What do you think? We're pretty underwhelmed, but there are some good bits, just not $500 AUD worth!
In books we have the Armageddon: Season of Fire narrative novel in hardback, plus next week sees the release of White Dwarf 524.

Hive! It's a book, well actually it's two books from fan-favourite Dan Abnett set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe. It's also a story we don't get to see that much, and that's one set around the Adeptus Arbites - those stalwart defenders (thugs) who defend the interest of the Imperium across untold worlds. They're not your regular beat-cop, Enforcers or Planetary Defence Forces aligned a Planetary Governor (or crime syndicate or both) - these guys have power. They are judge, jury and executioner, loyal to the Imperium and only the Imperium... or so the story goes. Dan Abnett picks it up from there in the two volume story Hive. It's available in two versions, the Premium Edition and the Hardback, and being Print on Demand, if you order before the second week in June, you will get a copy... in December! Abnett is a great writer, so it's undoubtedly worth the wait, plus we might get some political machinations and brutal crackdown on dissidents in the mix too!
This week is also a White Dwarf week, with Issue 524 available from the 12th of June.  

The Horus Heresy adds a new expansion this week, with the Journal Tactica: The Battle of Tallarn – Part One going up on pre-order. The 48-page softcover contains lore on the world of Tallarn, narrative missions, a Solar Auxilia Army List, rules for Command Tanks for the Solar Auxilia and Legiones Astartes. A long-awaited plastic release are the Charonite Ogryns. Previously available in resin, this new kit builds four Ogryns, with a really nice variety of customisable bits including two torsos for each, and two heads (masked or unmasked) and a choice of two faces. This looks like a great kit, even if the weapon options are limited. Horus Heresy also adds some new support platforms to the arsenal with the Rapier Fire Support Battery - allowing you to build a 'Thudd Gun' quad launchers or mole mortars - and the Rapier Direct Fire Battery - allowing you to build gravis heavy bolter batteries, laser destroyers, or multi-laser arrays. 
Warhammer: The Old World has new forces for Grand Cathay, including the new Astromancers of the Celestial Court set which includes two Astromancers – one mounted, and one on foot, plus an arcane Familiar. There's also two infantry units with the Iron Hail Gunners & Crane Gunner Teams - which builds twelve Iron Hail Gunners and eight Crane Gun Teams, plus the Peasant Levy, which has a tonne of customisation options including 24 x bare heads, 24 x straw hat heads, 20 x straw hats and 20 x arrow quivers.
In books this week, there's a new double novel hardback set from Dan Abnett. HIVE (already sold out) centres on the Adeptus Arbites enforcing Imperial law on a "sprawling hive planet amid scandals, cults, and much worse".
It's also a White Dwarf week with issue 523 on pre-order this week.

As the Cities of Sigmar explore the Mortal Realms for the rare Emberstone, they must often fight for it - and this is the setting for the new Age of $igmar expansion, Spearhead: City of Ash. Packed with brand new minis, Spearhead: City of Ash pits the ​Freeguild Warriors of the Sentinels of Embergard against the Skaven assassins of Clans Eshin - a fan favourite and much-anticipated plastic release. The Sentinels of Embergard include their valiant leader Jorvan Kreel and his super-cool companion Thexa the Ash Panther, a Mallus Forgepriest, 5 x Freeguild Gallants Knights and a new Freeguild unit, 10 x Freeguild Grenadiers (each with a choice of helmeted or bare heads). These new Grenadiers can be armed with either a ranged weapon or a fearsome looking axe, which is sure to be a favourite. The poses and design of the Grenadiers is next level, really stepping up the Cities of Sigmar line infantry, who for the most part have a more ranked look to them. On the Skaven side we have Crixxit's Kill-Pack, led by Deathmaster Crixxit, a stand-by Deathmaster, 10 x Night Runners, 10 x Gutter Runners and 2 x Bomb Rats. Clans Eshin are death-that-creeps, the-living-shadows, blades-in-the-night - everything humans find so terrifying about Skaven - and to have new plastic minis is a fantastic update. Spearhead: City of Ash also comes with some really lovely plastic terrain, very thematic and of course the board and other play aids you'll need to fight this battle. Something to note is the amazing Cities of Sigmar Transfer Sheet which features markings for Hammerhal Aqsha, Hammerhal Ghyra, Tempest’s Eye, Vindicarum, The Living City, Misthåvn, Lethis, Excelsis, Hallowheart, Settler’s Gain, and Greywater Fastness. These would be amazing on Blackshields in The Horus Heresy!
Also on pre-order this week, and also from Age of $igmar is the new Battleforce: Ossiarch Bonereapers – Null Myriad Phalanx, which gives you Arkhan the Black, Mortarch of Sacrament/ Mannfred von Carstein, Mortarch of Night/ Neferata, Mortarch of Blood, a Mortisan Soulmason, 4 x Morghast Archai/ Morghast Harbingers and 20x Mortek Guard. That's a hefty box there and a great way to start with the Ossiarch Bonereapers.
It's also a delayed-release of White Dwarf 522 for Australia and New Zealand, but this issue has a lot about the Badab Wars and the righteous actions of the so-called Space Pirates!

Stepping from the pages of the Horus Heresy, then the Eye of Terror, the Iron Warriors - Perturabo's sons - have returned to Warhammer 40K. With new miniatures, and a narrative campaign, the long-rumoured return of their Primarch is nigh! The story begins with Eye of Terror: Reign of Iron – War for the Cadian Gate, a three-book set guiding you through the narrative campaign. The in the set is Eye of Terror: Reign of Iron, 80 pages of lore and background on the Eye of Terror, the Iron Warriors, Adeptus Mechanicus and the new Adeptus Mechanicus hotness, Thulia Ghuld. The second volume is Eye of Terror: Reign of Iron – Apocalypse, a 72-page hardcover book which sees the return of Apocalypse battles, with new rules etc etc. The third volume is Eye of Terror: Reign of Iron – Detachments, a 16-page booklet including new detachments for a number of factions across Warhammer 40K. Eye of Terror: Reign of Iron – War for the Cadian Gate comes in two flavours; Puckered Eye of Terror Collector's Edition and Raining Iron, Torn Umbrella Standard Edition. In terms of miniatures we have a new character Kravek Morne, who has stepped right out of the Horus Heresy with his modified Cataphractii Terminator armour. He is flanked by the abominations of the Warp, the Chaos Mutilators - which despite getting a full glow-up absolutely don't hit for us. They seem to lack the horror aspect, despite the usual tick-box of bits one would add to a Warhammer 40K Chaos model. If troops are more your thing, then the new Combat Patrol: Chaos Space Marines – Iron Warriors is for you. Sporting the brand new Warpsmith, this also includes 5 x Havocs, 5 x Chaos Terminators, 10 x Legionaries and the new Iron Warriors Upgrade frame, which is going to be a hit! We'll see this scattered amongst Horus Heresy hobbyists and Warhammer 40K hobbyists alike. The biggest part of this release is the new Defiler kit - and it's a beauty for sure. With what Games Workshop call "poseable legs", multiple armour and chest options, interchangeable exhaust pipes, 2 x sets of shoulder pads, and 2 sets of torso trim. There are also 10 face plates (one for each for the Chaos Legions, and 4 for any Chaos Space Marines force). The Iron Warriors Upgrades Sprue is also available to pre-order this weekend (GW webstore only) and holds some great conversion options for all hobbyists. There's also a set of Iron Warriors Dice, which unfortunately aren't yellow as this would provide a brilliant contrast on the tabletop.
From Iron Men to the Machine Spirit, it's the Adeptus Mechanicus - this time led by Thulia Ghuld, one of the few female Mechanicus models we have, despite them being so present in the novels. This is an interesting model, combining may elements that have gone before to make a great looking mini. She brings with her the Hastarii, heavy infantry that can either be built as Hastarii Exterminators (armed with arc blasters and eradication casters) or Hastarii Fusiliers (with neutron fusils and phosphor blasters). Neither options you'd want to run into on the battlefield, but they do take a bit of a step away from the previous design aesthetic, having the loping element of some Heresy-era Mechanicum minis but the sleek look of the Skitarii in Warhammer 40K. There's also a Eye of Terror Battalion: Adeptus Mechanicus which includes an Onager Dunecrawler, Skorpius Disintegrator/ Skorpius Dunerider and an Ironstrider Ballistarius/ Sydonian Dragoon. This isn't the only Eye of Terror battalion box, with the ​Eye of Terror Battalion: Imperial Knights, sporting a Knight Valiant/ Knight Castellan, and 2 x Armiger Warglaives/ Armiger Helverins, and the Eye of Terror Battalion: Sons of Dorn featuring a Redemptor Dreadnought, Ballistus Dreadnought and 2 x Repulsor Executioners. 
There's a big release hidden amongst the Eye of Terror event, and that's the new Knight Destrier, bringing a brand new sleek look to what is a rapidly aging aesthetic of the current Knights range. The Knight Destrier includes what's being touted as "2 straightforward poses for the legs, and an advanced option for more experienced Warhammer hobbyists". How this works in reality could be interesting, but this will ideally fix what many see as the very mono-pose, static look to GW Knights. The Knight Destrier also includes an opening cockpit, detailed interior and pilot, along with the Knight's many weapon options. This is a big leap forward in their Knights range, more than likely influenced by a well-known Community member who entered their take on Knights in Golden Demon a year or so back. The Knight Destrier is very similar and shows how Games Workshop do see the Community as a pipeline for ideas - it is just a pity that the creator isn't going to be credited in any way by them. A Warhammer Community article wouldn't go astray!
Before we get to the delayed Australia and New Zealand releases, lets have a look at books, with two new omnibuses on pre-order this week. Paragon of Faith and Other Stories includes the novellas Paragon of Faith, and Saint's Judgement, plus short stories Infernal Motives, Our Lady of the Voyage, Joy of the Martyr, Redemption Through Blood, and The Fires of Our Faith. Carnage Unending includes the novella Blood Rite, and short stories Ork Hunter, Wulfen, The Glorious Tomb, Packin' Heat, Road Rage, Mad Dok, It Bleeds, The Price of Morkai, Consecrated Ground, Hell Fist, and Sarcophagus. We also have the hardback Aestred Thurga: Pyre of Faith.

In delayed releases for Australia and New Zealand we have the must-delayed Warhammer: The Old World ​Chaos Marauder Horsemen and Chaos Marauders. Both sets come with weapon options - either a hand weapon and shield, a great weapon, or a flail, plus a choice of helmeted or bare head for each mini. These are absolutely brilliant minis and a huge improvement on the originals which lasted decades!!

Think Horus Heresy is just trans-humans in armour or human fodder? Nooooo - it's also uber-trans-humans in golden armour, because today we can field the Emperor's finest in the new version of Horus Heresy. The new ​Liber Custodes: The Forces of the Emperor Army Book is 120 pages of lore and rules covering the Talons of the Emperor - the Legio Custodes, Anathema Psykana, and Divisio Assassinorum. Speaking of which, the brand new Legio Custodes Battle Group is finally here. The box comes with the new Shield Captain, a Contemptor-Achillus/ Contemptor-Galatus Dreadnought, a Caladius Annihilator Grav-tank (with optional twin lastrum bolt cannon or a twin neutronium cascade projector armament), 6 x Custodian Guard and 6 x Sentinel Guard miniatures. The Guards all come with alternative heads and other bits, and what's really curious about this release and Games Workshop's wording around it is that this is the first time we will have female Custodes, with optional heads presenting both male and female genders. Adam Troke made an aside saying "she" in the preview, but none of the written material has mentioned the option, and we wonder if that's to do with the toxic comments online about this option. It seems like a new approach was instituted by the studio, but Marketing are not coming along for the ride. 
In other Horus Heresy news we have the next in the Journal Tactica series of books, with Mailed Fist – Legiones Astartes Super-heavy Tanks, a 48-page softcover supplement covering the big Legiones Astartes tanks of the Horus Heresy, some rules and the Unit Profile for the Whirlwind Missile Tank, Legion Decurion upgrades for the Fellblade Super-heavy Battle Tank and the Falchion Super-heavy Tank Destroyer. To go with this book comes the very best of Legiones Astartes tanks, the Glaive Super-heavy Special Weapons Tank, for the very first time in plastic! Be aware this is a very expensive model, so it might be a bit rare on the tabletop, but every army needs one!! 
With the recent news that Citadel will no longer be a Games Workshop brand, we have the new Warhammer Colour Painting Handle, Warhammer Colour Tool Set and some new ​Warhammer Dice.
Those who missed out the other week also get White Dwarf 521 coming this Friday too!

A month ago the rest of the world could get their hands on the new Mechanicum forces for Horus Heresy, and this week Australia and New Zealand can pre-order them too. Heading up your heavy infantry are the new plastic Myrmidon Destructor Host, a very nice improvement on their original resin models, and the brand new Vultarax Stratos-Automata. For fans of Skitarii, we also have the Skitarii Battle-Pilgrym Marshal and Skitarii Battle-Pilgrym Corpus in their Horus Heresy guise. These are very different from the Skitarii we are used to in Warhammer 40K and don't seem to be very well received - looking more like a Tech-gang out of Necromunda. Poor model decision by Games Workshop and hardly represents the Mechanicum in any sort of glory.

Made to Order unites us with some lovely classic Orcs from Warhammer. We have the Classic Black Orc Bigboss in metal, the metal Classic Black Orc Command which comes with three paper banners and the Classic Black Orcs also in metal. 
Now for something really cool, here's the Orcs many of us grew up with, the metal Classic Orc Boyz Command (look at that rad drummer!!), metal Classic Orc Boyz (with plastic shields) and the plastic and metal Classic Goblin Rock Lobber. Look at those lovely classic paint schemes!!

It’s a Warhammer 40K week with Combat Patrols and pirates from the last few weeks now available separately for the first time, plus a rare Tau Empire release.
Let’s start with the Tau and their new battlesuit-ed elites, The Twin Lance. Known as Shas'ri Locai and Shas'ri Lantar (or Exemplar Sunsear and Exemplar Scatterflare to us non-Tau), these new battlesuits have a much bulkier (some might say very un-Tau-like look to them, almost with a human bulkiness to them).
Speaking of rare-ish, the Tyranids have a weird release out of nowhere – the Tyranid Prime with Lash Whip. Harking back to the original Tyranid releases of old, this mini definitely has a retro look to it, probably something much-wanted for Tyranid fans who have seen quite a few changes in the last few years. 
The Leagues of Votann are a weird mob, not Xenos but also not entirely human in allegiance either. There’s something about that which brings a new ambivalence to them and their intentions. This week we have a new hero, Berehk Stornbröw, who seems to have beef with Orks – as all Votann do. Quite a nice-looking figure but it’s a shame to not have any real options for the posing.
Aeldari, in their original form are back! They’re space pirates and they don’t care what you think! Now we have some new, some reboxed and some… nope, that’s it! The Vyper/Starfang is the reimagined fast attack support pew-pew mobile, and being a fan of the older type, this one isn’t as exciting, but it’s a great looking vehicle and will be heavily fielded by any Aeldari players. Also in the new camp are the two characters, Kharseth and Prince Yriel (who comes with a choice of two heads). Kharseth is a definite winner here, sporting the helm first seen in Jes Goodwin art from the launch of Battlefleet Gothic. We also have new troops, with the Corsair Skyreavers box bringing you 5 x flying Aeldari armed with melee weapons, plus there are options for two of the Corsair Skyreavers to take either a shredder, blaster, fusion gun, or flamer. The Corsair Voidreavers (a kit first released in Kill Team) has been reboxed and wins the award for being a super-flexible kit out of the box with not only standard weapons but specialist ones too, plus you get 9 x helmeted heads, 4 x bare female heads, 5 x bare male heads and 9 x back vanes to make them look extra bad-arse! If you like the look of this, then the new Combat Patrol: Aeldari Corsairs (only available for a limited time) is for you, sporting a Kharseth, Wave Serpent/ Falcon, 5 x Corsair Skyreavers and 10 x Corsair Voidreavers/ Voidscarred. With this generous bounty there’s also the new Aeldari Corsairs Dice.
Speaking of pirates – IT’S THE RED CORSAIRS (different corsairs, not related!). These guys are renegade Space Marines, enemies of the Imperium cruising around blowing stuff up!  Leading your warband will be a Red Corsairs Reave-Captain – and what a great kit he is – with options for a power maul or a power sword in one hand, and a plasma pistol in the other, plus three head options, alternate bandoliers, and two different backpack trophies. Already have some Space Marines and want to convert them up to be Red Corsairs? Well the Red Corsairs Upgrades and Transfers kit is for you! Sporting 5 x bare heads, 10 x power armour shoulder pads, 5 x Terminator shoulder pads, 3 x bandoliers, 2 x chainswords and 2 x hanging trophies, this will likely be a big hit with Chaos Space Marine fans too. Personally we think it’s a bit light on heads and too heavy on shoulderpads (considering there's already transfers in the kit), but there you go! All in? Want to fire up? Then the new Combat Patrol: Red Corsairs is for you because it includes the Red Corsairs Reave-captain, 5 x Red Corsairs Raiders, 10 x Fellgor Ravagers (Beastmen rule!!) and a Chaos Rhino (a flyer might have been better, but okay!). There’s also some rather nice Red Corsairs Dice.
Speaking of Combat Patrols, the new Combat Patrol: Night Lords is here with a Chaos Lord with Jump Pack, 5 x Chosen, 10 x Legionaries and a Rhino. Sadly this only comes with a Chaos Space Marine Transfer Sheet not a dedicated Night Lords one. With all the recent Night Lords releases it really is time to step up and GW to give them their own!
Now this is a beauty – the Combat Patrol: Kroot! Bringing some of the best of the recent Kroot releases this includes a Kroot Lone-spear mounted on a Kalamandra, a Krootox Rider, 3 of the awesome Krootox Rampagers and 12 x Farstalker Kinband warriors. Super thematic, really nice, and also (if you read the lore) potentially space pirates!!
In books this week we have the new Carcharodons: Void Exile in paperback and for the rest of the world it’s a White Dwarf week… I’m not going to go on about it again!  

There's also supposed to be a Middle-earth Made To Order this week but it doesn't seem to be offered in Australia or New Zealand this week. 

In 2016 Tzeentch was the first Chaos faction to receive a really big wave of releases, and it was a fantastic release. This week those turquoise wonders return with their 2026 update in Age of $igmar. Spearheaded by the new rules, Battletome: Disciples of Tzeentch comes in two flavours; Magic & Mystery Is Part Of Our History Gamers Edition and Mirror Mirror on the Wall Standard Edition. There's also new miniatures in this release - the Fatemaster (described by Cult(ure) of Paint as the best miniature from the last Warhammer Preview Reveal) and Old Chicken Legs, the Magister on Disc of Tzeentch. There's also a great Endless Spells set, the Argent Shards, which honestly have to be a must-get for Tzeentch fans who play Age of $igmar, Warhammer - The Old World, 40K or Horus Heresy. They're just awesome! There's also a new epic Battleforce: Warpflame Cavalcade which includes the Kairos Fateweaver/ Lords of Change, 3 x Screamers of Tzeentch, 3 x Flamers of Tzeentch, 2 x Exalted Flamer of Tzeentch/ Burning Chariot/ Herald of Tzeentch on Burning Chariot/ Changecaster, 10 x Brimstone Horrors, 10 x Blue Horrors and 10 x Pink Horrors. This would be an AMAZING starter set for Tzeentch!! Meanwhile if you prefer more frontline troops, there's the Spearhead: Tzaangor Warflock which includes a Tzaangor Shaman mounted on a Disc of Tzeentch, 3 x Tzaangor Skyfires, 3 x Tzaangor Enlightened, and 10 x Tzaangors - an excellent way to get Tzaangors, the prettiest of Beastmen! If you prefer just some purely powerful magicians, then the Regiments of Renown: Seekers of Silver may be more your cup of tea, with the Gaunt Summoner (on disc), the new Magister on Disc of Tzeentch, and 3 x Screamers of Tzeentch. and of course we have the new Disciples of Tzeentch Warscroll Cards and some of the nicest dice we've seen in a while with the Disciples of Tzeentch Dice.
Tzeentch aren't the only magical kids on the block today, with the Lumineth Realm-lords getting their own 
Battletome which comes in Big Hats & Flowy Robes Gamers Edition and Elves of Power Standard Edition (the only thing available to pre-order Down Under this weekend). Like many new releases, the Lumineth Realm-lords get a new Vanari Lord Regent, who has alternative build options to make your own custom character. There's a two new boxes too, with the Spearhead: Hurakan Vanguard featuring Hurakan Spirit of the Wind/ Sevireth, Lord of the Seventh Wind, a Hurakan Windmage, 5 x Hurakan Windchargers, and 10 x Vanari Wardens. We also have the Battleforce: Iliathan Warhost with Ellania and Ellathor, Eclipsian Warsages, 5 x Vanari Bladelords, 5 x Ydrilan Riverblades (which really don't look like they fit in with the other Lumineth), 10 x Vanari Auralan Sentinels, 10 x Vanari Auralan Wardens and a Vanari Starshard Ballista. More magic than troops? Then the Regiments of Renown: Sigil Convocation is for you, featuring a Scinari Calligrave and the Endless Spells, Sanctum of Amyntok, Hyshian Twinstones, and Rune of Petrification. The requisite Lumineth Realm-lords Warscroll Cards and Dice also make an appearance!
We have some Space Marine Made To Order this weekend, with some metal Space Marine Captains from the Ultramarines, Space Wolves, Dark Angels, and Blood Angels Chapters, plus there's also a mixed set of resin and metal Terminator armour dudes – a Captain, Librarian, and Chaplain. Can there be a Space Marine release without Ultramarines? No - so we have the more classic metal and plastic set which includes older versions of Marneus Calgar, Chaplain Cassius, Sergeant Telion, Chief Librarian Tigurius, and Cato Sicarius. A set that was getting big money on eBay has just gone into Made To Order, and that's the Armour Through the Ages set. which includes the mostly original MkI, MkII, MkIII, MkIV, and MkV patterns of power armour in resin and plastic miniatures. There was a MKVI in this set but it's disappeared into the Void!

The Witch Hunter’s Handbook which is like a field manual of sorts which states the rules governing Sigmar's Witch Hunters in the Old World. The book is 96-pages and a reprint with a new cover.
It's also a White Dwarf week with Issue 521 arriving to line your bird cage with!

​The Horus Heresy isn’t just Hypermen vs Hypermen, it’s also Arcane Robotmen vs Arcane Robotmen, and with the pre-order for the new Journal Tactica: Skitarii – The Steel Hand of Mars up this weekend, we get even further into the depths of the Mechanicum. This supplement (sadly only 48 pages) gives us the background to the new Skitarii Battle-Pilgryms miniatures, plus new missions and rules for various Skitarii Battle-Pilgrym commanders and formations, the Bonepicker hosts, and vehicles like the Skitarii Triaros Armoured Conveyor, Skitarii Karacnos Assault Tank, Skitarii Krios Battle Tank, and Skitarii Krios Venator Tank Destroyer. This new information goes very handily with the all-new Mechanicum Skitarii Battle Group which includes the Skitarii Battle-Pilgrym Marshal, 16 x Skitarii Battle-Pilgrym Corpus miniatures (with multiple head options) and the Vultarax Stratos-Automata (which may look familiar to Nurgle fans and enemies alike). Overall the new Skitarii Battle-Pilgrym seem very disappointing, with their kangaroo-like legs (seen on some other 40K Mechanicus minis) and their ragged attire. Maybe it goes with the fluff, but it’s a huge move away from the  Skitarii we see in 40K and the Skitarii we have seen in resin for Horus Heresy from Forgeworld before.
Speaking of Horus Heresy, and Forgeworld come to think of it, we have two new resin models – the mighty Angron Transfigured, and Lotara Sarrin – Mistress of the Conqueror. The Angron has all the hallmarks of a Forgeworld kit, with sharp lines and very static pose – unfortunately the real thing that detracts from this model is its obviously incorrect scale. Have a look at the size of the heads and skulls around his neck… is this Angron’s little brother? Considering the hulking versions we have had before, this is a truly disappointing model, especially as this is him in his Transfigured state! Lotara Sarrin is a different matter – a really nice little model, with with her multiple World Eaters icons she could be nobody else in this universe! Pity she’s resin though.
It’s been a while since we’ve had some Lord of the Ring/ The Hobbit action, and but with the new Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game Journal: The Treachery of Gollum we have a few things for fans of this system. The expansion contains nine new “Narrative Scenarios” with a “Linked Campaign System” which is meant to connect each of the Narrative Scenarios so that the result of one battle will have an impact on the next. Rad idea! There’s also Painting Guides, Hobby Tutorials for the webbed tunnels of Shelob’s lair, the sewers of Osgiliath, and the Dead Marshes. In terms of miniatures there is the new The Path of Cirith Ungol: Shelob & Gollum, a really nice diorama of sorts showing the characters in situ. The other set is the new and very cool Foot Knights of Dol Amroth. Both kits are plastic, so give you the option for easy conversion. There’s also the new Cirith Ungol Dice Set if that is your want and desire!
We also have Made to Order this week with some very old (classic) Chaos miniatures from many many moons ago! We have the Classic Chaos Warhounds, Classic Chaos Chariot (a cool kit), the Chaos Sorcerer with Lore Familiar, Classic Chaos Sorcerers, and Classic Chaos Lord on Chaos Steed. These will be available to order until Monday 26th January. The other Made to Order this week are The Steel Rook and the Kroot The Hunter Strikes. Both of these minis (apart from being a yawn) are exclusives to events, but now available until Monday 26th January. Keep in mind that with these all being Made to Order, will be shipped within 180 days of ordering.
It’s also a delayed White Dwarf week for those in the southern hemisphere, with Issue 520 on pre-order this week.

Something has to be said for a year that starts off with pestilence - it's like 2020 all over again, this time without the masks and Ubereats! Yes Nurgle is back (yet again) and this time with a major range refresh for Warhammer: Age of $igmar, adding new troops, cultists and more. Interestingly enough, not being fans of Nurgle, this range refresh did actually peak some interest purely through the amazing sculpts and paint jobs, plus new versions of Oldhammer Beastmen.
Alrighty, well we start off with the Chaos Battletome: Maggotkin of Nurgle, which comes in Pop-A-Zit Gamer's Edition and Putrid Carcass Standard Edition. 
The new Nurgle forces have some absolutely spectacular models, none more so than the big-boi, Festus the Leechlord, beautifully vile in his magnificence! There's a tonne of detail on this model, a real dream to spend many many hours on. There's another command set too, with The Court of Gelgus Pust, which of course includes Old Pinhead himself Gelgus Pust, the amazing Belga the Cystwitch (sure to be a favourite at any painting competitions in 2026), and a Pestigor Shaman Foulhoof. That's right, a Pestigor, which goes all the way back to the early days of Warhammer when the Beastmen would align strongly with one Chaos God or another. We've seen Tzaangors for Tzeentch, and some Beastmen in the Slaanesh range, so here's hoping we get the Khorne ones too! Nurgle believes in elites too and here they are, the Putrid Blightkings, big bruisers to really ruin your day. Lacking some of the dynamism of the rest of the range, these are still pretty cool. Speaking of the good stuff, lets bring on the awesome Sloven Knights, who just have to be the epitome of Nurgle. Imagine seeing these guys silhouetted on the outskirts of your town, and you just know that it's going to be a very bad day! Speaking of which, the Rotswords are absolutely awesome. Very very tempted by these in an alternative black Nurgle scheme I had seen online. As much as those are cool, these have to take the cake - the Pestigors - have a look at those faces, at the paint scheme, honestly these are perfection!! Games Workshop have really knocked these out of the park. If you like your Nurgle all monstrous, then the Cankerborn are probably more your cup of tea - total beasts! Now if you were going to be a Chaos Cultist who would you pick? Slaanesh seems like fun, Khorne seems dangerous and a lot of work, and Tzeentch a bit too birdy! So which fool chose to be a a Nurgle Cultist and become a Pox-Wretch? Not a great job, but some cool minis to be the fodder for your next invasion. That's it for the new Nurgle stuff, but if you want some blasts from the more-recent-past then the Spoilpox Scrivener is back, plus there's the new Regiment of Renown: The Pustules, (including old Spoilpox Scrivener, Herald of Nurgle, a Feculent Gnarlmaw and 10 x Plaguebearers) and Spearhead: Maggotkin of Nurgle – Bubonic Cell, (which includes a Rotbringer Sorcerer, a Beast of Nurgle, 6 x Nurglings and 10 x Rotmire Creed miniatures). Certainly very different, and maybe something Nurgle players would get into. The Nurgle range refresh comes with the new Warscroll Cards: Maggotkin of Nurgle and ​Maggotkin of Nurgle Dice.
Also in Age of $igmar this week (though I thought they were initially for Warhammer: The Old World), the 
Spearhead: Helsmiths of Hashut – Helforge Host is out. It includes a War Despot, Dominator Engine, Tormentor Bombard/ Deathshrieker Rocket Battery and 11 x Infernal Cohort miniatures - not a bad start!!
In Warhammer 40K-land the Sisters of Battle Army Set which launched them back into the battlefield just a few short years ago is back on Made to Order. It includes a Canoness, a Penitent Engine, 4 x Sisters Repentia and 1 x Repentia Superior, 3 x Arco-flagellants, 5 x Seraphim and 10 x Battle Sisters. This is your chance to get the first iteration of these minis before they went into the multi-pose form we have now.
In books this week we have a new Grombrindal book with Grombrindal: Ancestor's Burden in paperback, and a the latest Gotrek Gurnisson novel Verminslayer now in paperback too. It's also a White Dwarf week for the rest of the world, except Oceania... 
For Oceania we also have the delayed release of the Legiones Astartes: Siege Assault Battle Group which includes a Leviathan Siege Dreadnought, 10 x MKIII Breacher Squad miniatures (that is the newer inferior MKIIIs with the new very needed Breacher upgrade sprue), 6 x Cataphractii Terminators with volkite chargers and power mauls and 6x Cataphractii Terminators with combi-bolters and power fists. These Cataphractii are the new slimmer, slightly stretched versions which have been derided online but every YouTuber paid to paint them amazingly loves them. These could have been better, and it's a real shame more care wasn't taken to make them a fantastic update to the older ones. 

It's the end of the year, so it's pretty quiet in pre-order land. Really interesting to see the new Huron Blackheart mini previewed, and makes us wonder if we will see a Badab Wars campaign in the style of Horus Heresy any time soon.
But onto this week, with White Dwarf 519 having a street date of January 9th 2026, but up on the pre-orders page today.
The other orderable material is the Made to Order terrain with the ​Battlezone: Mechanicus – Tectonic Fragdrill always a popular item when it's around. A personal favourite are the Macroplasma Batteries which just seem like such versatile little terrain pieces. We've also got the lump that is the Generatorum Hub, the Mechasite Minoris, two fan favourites the Battlezone: Mechanicus – Galvanic Servohaulers and Battlezone: Mechanicus – Haemotrope Reactors, and then we go old school (in terms of modern terrain) and get the Battlezone: Mechanicus – Transterranic Gantries and Battlezone: Mechanicus – Galvanic Magnavent. They're a bit dated now, not totally compatible with the Kill Team terrain, but still versatile.
​On New Years Day, there's also the Sisters of Battle Made To Order too.

The lure of the boxed game is back, and this time with the latest incarnation of Warhammer Quest, Darkwater. This box sees our heroes delving into the wastes corrupted by Nurgle, and this box seems to be full of surprises - especially for the new additions to the already sizeable range of Nurgle miniatures! Warhammer Quest: Darkwater comes with 49 x push-fit plastic (yuck, but okay) miniatures, which include your heroes: Edmark Valoran, Bren Tylis, Inara Sion, Drolf Ironhead, Kelthannor, Drasher Vorn, and Jacobus Vyne with Wisper the all-too-common pet. The bad guys also have heroes, but just less shiny, with Gelgus Pust, the incredible Belga the Cystwitch, Mulgoth the Cleaver, and Shaman Foulhoof. These are supported by 2 x Cankerborn, 3 x very cool Blight Templars, 6 x Mire Kelpies, 8 x Pestigors (by the Gods, new Beastmen. AWESOME!), and 14 x Pox-Wretches (which really do look like digital kitbashes of the Pox-Walkers). There's also the 36-page softback rulebook and a new format hardback map book which includes foldout maps to play your games on. Another great box, surely to be picked up by Nurgle fans for the new troops, even if the heroes do seem to lack a little bit of flair! We should expect there will be multi-part/multi-pose versions of these kits one would think, but who knows when - certainly the previews we have seen show an amazing looking range!
Possibly as a precursor to these new minis, we have the new Age of $igmar expansion, Path to Glory: Blighted Wilds, which sees Nurgle invade the Mortal Realms yet again, giving you the opportunity to build and the level up your troops and champions. They say "a special roster makes it easy to record the progress of your warriors, along with their paths, enhancements, and lore(s)", so that sounds interesting! Certainly very thematic!
In books this week we have the new Demolisher in Hardback and Special Edition (have to admit these new Imperial Guard Special Edition covers don't work for us - bit too minimalist), plus The Rise of Nagash omnibus in Paperback which includes the novels Nagash the Sorcerer, Nagash the Unbroken, and Nagash Immortal, plus the short story Picking the Bones.
This week also sees the pre-orders for the very special White Dwarf 518 which marks the 50th anniversary of Games Workshop. Being that it's such a landmark it would be nice to hear from the old guard like Jervis Johnson, Andy Chambers, the Perry Twins, Jes Goodwin etc, but the contents look a little less nostalgic and a little more navel-gazing.

The countries that missed out on the Hobgrot Vandalz and Infernal Cohort also have these added to their re-orders this week. Both of these kits look brilliant and are very tempting to add to the Christmas list, despite the price! 

It’s Kill Team, and finally the Tau get some love! But not just any love, because the classic XV26 Stealth Suit has had an upgrade adding more dynamism to this old lady! “How can I get this?”, you ask - well the brand new Kill Team: Dead Silence is your answer, sporting not only some stealth Tau, but also some stealth Space Wolves. Wolves are an interesting choice, especially considering Raven Guard or even Alpha Legion would be a seemingly better fit! None the less, Kill Team: Blind Silence doesn’t come with scenery, but it does come with 8 of the afore-mentioned XV26 Stealth Battlesuits with standard loadout, plus extra parts to build Kill Team specialists like the Lodestar, and Neutraliser. The Wolf Scouts Kill Team, meanwhile, gives you 5 Phobos armoured dudes, plus a wolf, and of course you will get the parts to build optional specialists like the Fangbearer, Rune Priest Skjald, and a guy with a big round handbag! This set also comes with the softcover Dead Silence Dossier, maps, Campaign Log Pad, Datacards for the Tau and Space Wolf operatives, token sheet and decals. Of specific note must be the addition of tactical rocks for the Wolf Scouts!
 If you’re a Kill Team fan, then you’re in luck, because this week we also have the individual release of the Killzone: Tomb World bringing us some rare Necron terrain and the very first to show us inside a Tomb World (thus the name – no real surprise there).
Speaking of Necrons there’s also the Kill Team: Canoptek Circle and their Data Cards, and the Deathwatch don’t miss out, with Kill Team: Deathwatch and their Data Cards also available on pre-order this weekend too.

It's a bumper week for Age of $igmar fans with a new game and some decent boxed sets, Warhammer: The Old World fans with new minis for the Undead of Khemri, and Combat Force sets for Legions Imperialis.
It's a fact that the Undead of Khemri are the best force in Warhammer: The Old World (well fact in our minds) but this week the new Arcane Journal: The War of Settra's Fury is planning to convert you to their side. The new book gives expanded lore and rules as we see Settra's forces enter the Kingdom of Man and take on the Empire, Dwarves and Bretonnians. A must-have for player and hobbyists of all those factions. As well as the new Arcane Journal, there's also some great new leadership minis for the Undead, with the Royal Heralds and Liche Priests on pre-order this weekend. Both boxes have alternative heads and weapons making them great for bitz, but also flexible enough to make an interesting and bespoke leader for your forces. The price is pretty high, working out at $2 AUD per piece - this is defintely one to get from independent stockists! 
In Age of $igmar we have a new entrant into the ​Warhammer Underworlds series of games, with Spitewood bringing two new warbands to the game - Kurnoth's Heralds from the Sylvaneth and the Blood of the Bull from the Chaos Dwarf faction. Great to already see some new minis for the Chaos Dwarves (despite the full range not being out yet) and these Kurnoth's Heralds are great! We finally have some Centaurs backing up the Sylvaneth! There is also a set of cards for most existing Warhammer Underworlds warbands in the Warbands of Spitewood set, allowing you to play them in this new setting. 
If warbands are your thing, then these boxes give you a chance to pick up some great minis for each Grand Alliance (do we still use that term?). In Death Warbands: Morbid Minions we have the Exiled Dead, Sons of Velmorn, Skinnerkin and Thorns of the Briar Queen. The Chaos Warbands: Reavers of Ruin gives you the Gnarlspirit Pack, Skittershank's Clawpack, the Thricefold Discord, and the Wurmspat. The Order Warbands: Seekers in Shadow includes: Xandire's Truthseekers, the Shadeborn, the Starblood Stalkers, and Elathain's Soulraid. While Destruction Warbands: Gitz and Goliaths is Zarbag's Gitz, Hrothgorn's Mantrappers, Mollog's Mob, and Rippa's Snarlfangs. Not cheap, but a big saving on buying them seperately.
Meanwhile, in the world of tiny minis, ​Legions Imperialis have three Combat Forces - the Mechanicum Combat Force, Legiones Astartes Combat Force and the Solar Auxilia Combat Force. Big armies to bolster your existing force or maybe start in the game.
In books this week we have the prestige-looking Yarrick: The Box Set which includes the novels Imperial Creed, and The Pyres of Armageddon, plus the short stories Chains of Golgotha, A Plague of Saints, The Wreckage, Evil Eye, The Gallows Saint, Sacrificial, and Sarcophagus.
​For everyone except Australia and New Zealand you also get White Dwarf 517 too. We'll just wait over here for the English to be translated into Oceanic. Oh what a chore that must be!

It's not often we get to see an entirely alien environment in Warhammer, but the new Kill Team: Tomb World gives us just that, as we enter a Necron... Tomb World, well it's all in the name really!!
Kill Team: Tomb World is the largest  
Kill Team set we have seen in a while, and although the Necron minatures aren't that exciting, the environment that comes with the boxed set certainly is! For the Necron hobbyist, this is a fantastic opportunity, with 25 x modular Tomb World pillars and walls as well as scatter terrain of sarcophagus and teleport pads. This is a fantastic opportunity to get into a civilisation, plus there's an 80-page softcover Kill Team: Tomb World Dossier with background, artwork, and rules for the kill teams included in the box, including the new Necron Canoptek Circle Kill Team. They are led by a Cryptek Geomancer, and include 2 x Tomb Crawlers and 5 x Macrocyte Warriors (with options to build the specialist Accelerator and Reanimator). Their adversary... the Deathwatch Kill Team, which inlcudes 10 x multipart Space Marines with all their specialist gear. This is enough f0r two Kill Teams, so go nuts! The set also includes NPCs, with 10 x Necron Warriors and 3 x Canoptek Scarab Swarm. There's also a double-sided folding game board, 37 x Datacards for the Deathwatch and 32 x Datacards for the Canoptek Circle, and the Tomb World Card Pack. It's a hefty box and sure to be popular. Full credit to Games Workshop for creating this awesome terrain - it really brings to Necrons to life... no pun intended!
There's more Kill Team goodness, and this time from the last alien world we got to see, and that's the Killzone Upgrade: Tyranid Infestation, giving us terrain for the Tyranids, there's also the ​Kill Team: Raveners and the Kill Team: Raveners Datacards. Their adversary, the Adeptus Mechanicus also rolls into town with the Kill Team: Battleclade and their Kill Team: Battleclade Datacards. As a great addition to the Imperial ranks, there's also the Sisters Novitiate Squad, and the amazing Ork Kommandos.
This week saw the preview for the exclusive Warhammer+ Year 5 miniature, which goes on pre-order this week too. You can pick from the really dynamic Aeldari – Infinity’s Lament or the malevolent Soulblight Gravelords – The Summons. They're both excellent, unlike some of the Warhammer+ content we've seen, but maybe the miniature alone is worth it. They're both gorgeous.
In books this week we have the Special Edition of Assassinorum: Kingmaker, plus it's a White Dwarf week coming up, so we have White Dwarf 515 on pre-order too.

In Made to Order this week, we have some lovely Eldar and some not-so lovely Emperor's Children!
Lovely metal miniatures of your favourite old school Aeldari include the Classic Eldrad Ulthran, Farseer and Warlocks, the Phoenix Court of Khaine (Avatar of Khaine, Baharroth, Karandras, Asurmen, Jain Zar, Maugan Ra, Fuegan), and the plastic Webway Gate, which should be a shelf item in all stores frankly! It not being so is a diservice to Aeldari players! All these sculpts (from memory) are classic Jes Goodwin and beautiful reminders of his amazing work. 
In the absolute opposite camp, we have the Emperor's Children Heroes (Emperor's Children Lord, Fabius Bile, and Lucius the Eternal), Classic Noise Marines, and the awesome plastic Noise Marine. This should also be a line item in stores - damn them for ever removing it.

It's time for the cultists of Khorne to march full force into the world of Age of $igmar, with the Chaos Battletome: Blades of Khorne on pre-order this weekend. As we would expect, there are two flavours; Type-O Negative Gamer's Edition and My Bloody Valentine Standard Edition, so pick your poison if you are a human follower of the Lord of Skulls. There's also a new hero, the Deathbringer, which despite having some inspiration from the Frank Frazetta art, doesn't really hit the mark. Khorne equals warbands, and there's three for Khorne; the Goreblade Warband (which includes a Mighty Lord of Khorne, a Bloodsecrator, a Bloodstoker, a Khorgorath, five of the fearsome Blood Warriors, and ten of the weirdly-proportioned Bloodreavers... honestly just so ugly!). There's also the Regiment of Renown: The Red Revelation (which includes the Slaughterpriest, five Skullreapers/ Wrathmongers, and ten Bloodreavers), and lastly there's the new Spearhead: Blades of Khorne – Fangs of the Blood God (which is a Karanak, eight Claws of Karanak and ten of the newer Flesh Hounds). As a fan of the Claws of Karanak, it's great to see these really great minis also available seperately once again. If you want to play these lads and lasses to their full potential, then you'll be needing the Warscroll Cards: Blades of Khorne, and if you want to play them pretty, then there's the Blades of Khorne Dice.
Bringing balance to The Force in the world of Warhammer: Age of $igmar, we have the Kharadron Overlords, who one would have to say have been pretty poorly serviced since their introduction around 10 years ago. Released, then abandoned, rejigged to make them more steampunk looking but ending up looking like flying kettles, and now having another little rejig to bring them inline with how they probably should have always appeared - sky pirates! Unfortunately Games Workshop have added these guys to the Order roster, when it would have been far more interesting to have them being ambiguous and truly mercenaries. All that aside, the new  ​​Order Battletome: Kharadron Overlords also comes in two flavours; Ahaaaar Me Hearties Gamer's Edition and Armoured Luftballoons Standard Edition. Talking of flying teapots, here's a mess of bits - it's the Null-Khemist, who despite someones best efforts, really is completely impractical. The new Vongrim Harpoon Crew/ Vongrim Salvagers set however, are great! This is the look and feel we should have had all along and now they are here! Here's hoping they are greeted well and we can move forward with a proper rejig of the faction. There's a two new boxed sets, the Spearhead: Kharadron Overlords – Grundstok Trailblazers (which includes, an Endrinmaster with Dirigible Suit, five Grundstok Thunderers, one Grundtsok Gunhauler and three Endrinriggers/ Skywardens) plus the Regiment of Renown: Drekki's Privateers (which have a Drekki Flynt, an Arkanaut Frigate and ten Arkanaut Company miniatures). There's also a piece of terrain for the Steampunk Kettles, with the Zontari Endrin Dock on pre-order this week too. As you would expect there are the Warscroll Cards: Kharadron Overlords and sparkly orange Kharadron Overlords Dice... they obviously ran out of ideas for colours. Just make them bronze!
In Age of $igmar adjacent products this week we have the Raging Slayers Rivals Deck which brings more paper into your life for a hefty price, and the Kamandora's Blades - one of the worst miniature releases this year. Maybe we should make a list every year. These are really poor!
In books there's the new Soulblight Gravelords novel Queen of the Rose Throne in hardback, and it's also a ​White Dwarf week with issue 513 hitting the shelves.

In Made To Order this week we have some great Age of $igmar terrain - and it is very good, so do consider it if you are even a bit tempted.
The ubiquitous Citadel Wood, which really should be part of the range all the time, is back - as is the range of Dominion of Sigmar structures, with the Penumbral Stormvault, Enduring Stormvault, Hallowed Stormthrone, Sigmarite Dais (a favourite), Shattered Temple, and Penumbral Engine all up for order today but will be sent to you in the next 180 days.

Have you ever taken a close look at the Idoneth Deepkin? Have a look at their units and tell me they're not the Age of $igmar  version of Drukhari. Their units are so similar... and maybe that's why they are so cool. The Idoneth Deepkin are very dynamic, and great minature to paint and assemble, plus they look great on the tabletop! This week you can see them in all their glory with the new Battletome: Idoneth Deepkin, which comes in two flavours; We're Going To Need A Bigger Boat Gamer Edition and the Battered Family Feast Standard Edition. There's some new miniatures to go with this Battletome and they're in the region of spectacular, verging on the "how do I paint that?". There's Mathaela, Oracle of the Abyss (he's a wizard with a big shell for a hat - too cool!), the Ikon of the Sea/Ikon of the Storm combi-kit (no shell hat, but he does have some Moray friends - the more the merrier), and Isharann Soulscryer who I don't think is new, but has fishy minions to do his bidding. Actually it's interesting that all these characters are male, as female protagonists in this range abound! Age of $igmar loves a spell or two, and boy is the Idoneth Deepkin: Manifestations a centrepiece. It's hard to get an idea of scale, but if this had size and weight to it, this would look amazing... lord knows how to paint it! The new Spearhead: Idoneth Deepkin – Akhelian Tide Guard is also here. Pretty standard fare for them, all brilliant models too and a great introduction to the range. If you like your accessories then the gorgeous Idoneth Deepkin Dice are probably for you, and of course the Warscroll Cards so you know what the frakk you are doing! We love you Deepkin!!
In Warhammer 40K world this week we have some terrain, with the Battlezone: Manufactorum spewing forth the Autochoral Transmitter, Thermoexchanger Shrine and Sub-Cloister and Storage Fane. I don't really understand why, at the scale Games Workshop manufacture at, why these are so expensive. If you compare these to Rampart by Archon Studios (for example), there's no discernable difference in quality.
It's a White Dwarf week (delayed in Australia and New Zealand), so Issue 514 is on the way... yawn!
