When this first hit the shelves, Cadia was a well fleshed out rumour, but none of us really knew what was going to happen.
**SPOILER ALERT**
Cadia dies! Yes the War World is no more... so this issue was the beginning of all that. Released the week before Gathering Storm: Fall of Cadia here we get to see the Triumvirate for the first time. It's also the preview of some of the Tzeentch releases, Gangs of Commorragh, the iron Hill Dwarves from The Hobbit plus more on Blood Bowl, which since it's release has gone a bit quiet, as is the Games Workshop way! Want to see more?

Games Workshop released some Faction Paint Sets this month, and on the outside they seem great, until you see the paints they don't inlcude. Some of them, like the Orks and Space Wolves are pretty good, but the Ultramarines and Blood Angels ones lack a highlight or even a colour to mix a highlight. Pretty crap!

The Hobbit has had a few releases lately and the Dwarves of the Iron Hills are a nice release. Unfortunatley they're from Forge World, so a bit pricey, but a nice addition to the range. Also from Forge World is the Stormbird. Pretty much every man and his dog agrees these are nothing like descirbed in the novels, so not sure hy this saw the light of day!

Next Planet Warhammer delves into the video game world with Eternal Crusade again being thrown at us (this really doesn't seem to be getting much traction) plus a Battlefleet Gothic Leviathan - a turn-based version of the current game (which is great BTW), a new faction in Total War: Warhammer (Wood Elves), 50% off Blood Bowl 2 the video game, and a small look at a new retro game - Dark Future which was around just before Warhammer 40K, and was soon eclipsed by the juggernaut! It's a driving game with guns!
-
Books also get a look in: Carcharadons: Red Thirst, Primarch: Leman Russ - the Great Wolf and the deluxe version of Primarchs: Magnus The Red - Master of Prospero. There's also the audio drama Horus Heresy Virtues of the Sons/Sins of the Father, plus a brief chat with Graham McNeill.
-
Lastly, Spire of Dawn (now unavailable) gets a plug as do the two Forge World Blood Bowl Referees. There's also the rules for them tucked in here as a White Dwarf Exclusive. Odd this wasn't elsewhere...
-
Review of the Year is just that,. taking us through the year in White Dwarf - from Fyreslayers to Silver Tower, Munitorium Containers to Deathwatch, Genestealers to Prospero and the inevitable Tzeentch! There's also a Miniature of the Year competition - not sure how the Wulfen got in there espcecially considering the only Genestealer model is the vehicle. I'd forgotten Kharn came out this year too
-
How To Win A Golden Demon - pretty self explanatory and with Darren Latham, former 'Eavy Metal painter and now Golden Demon judge, who better to ask?! This could have been longer in my mind and maybe some more examples. It's just such a big part of the hobby, who better to ask?!

Mustering For War is a new series looking at how to get that army painted. this month using Khorne as the basis. There's a stage by stage of the level of detail of Troops compared to the level of detail on Heroes! really quite good and certainly handy to get inspiration from!
-
Another newbie feature A Clash Of New And Ancient Foes takes a newbie and walks them through a new game system. This week it's Age of $igmar with some nicely done Seraphon! This army is calling to me!!
-
Realms Of Battle looks at terrain. A great feature! From the Realmgates (it's really not this difficult to build) to painting weathering on the Promethium Pipes. The schemes on the Realmgates are just awesome with some really subtle OSL.
-
The Emperor Protects is a battle report - and a big one! It's Erik Niemz vs. Dan Harden for the War World of Cadia. They both have huge forces, maybe even too big for the boards they're on. It's a pitched battle from move one almost.
-
The Ultimate Guide To... is all about Tzeentch. From Tzaangors to Acolytes to Horros and the Silver Towers. This is quite nciely done and not a bad primer.
-
Warhammer Age of Sigmar features the Slayer Sword winner from Golden Demon: Warhammer Age of Sigmar, Martin Waller and some of his amazingly detailed and shaded miniatures.
-
Paarde Ground: Blood Bowl takes a look at some Blood Bowl teams. Skaven, some Ork teams (one with an awesome green and white colour scheme), and two human teams with very different schemes.
-
The Battle of Yesh'Yo is a great view of the Warhammer World diorama featuring Tau vs. Mechanicum.
This has some of the biggest Forge World models available all on one diorama!
-

-
Like Knight? Well The Noble and The Wicked is for you, with a look at Joe Oliver's Imperial Knights AND Dark Eldar forces. His Knights have such a united scheme they look amazing as a unit or seperately. Then it's onto his Dark Eldar - which may be the only red Dark ELdar that actually look good. It's a hard scheme to do, and he pulls it off so well! Great painter!
-
Paint Splatter this month looks at Celestine and also some advice on painting up the large and imposing Belarius Cawl - sub-assemblies is the key according to Chris Peach
