Games Workshop Dark Eldar Pricing Error! Best Deal EVER?

While perusing the Games Workshop webstore, I noticed something both odd and exciting - the new Dark Eldar bundles for only $35 AUS. Can this be true?
Sadly no!! I tried adding it to the shopping cart to see if it was possible - but it came up with the $95 AUS.
Interesting to see if it happened in other currencies!

Dark Eldar Wracks Unboxing & Finecast Comparison Review

The release of the Dark Eldar Wracks today was not only an exciting new release, it also gives the opportunity to compare these almost identical sculpts to the Finecast Wracks releases some years ago!
The Wracks are the soldiers of the Haemonculi - body modification freaks who build their own force from the body parts of slaves and those willing to be part of this macabre force.
We looked at the Wracks a bit last week, but here's the unboxing of one of the strangest units in WH40K.

White Dwarf #35 Review - The Smell of Void Mines In The Air!

For an army with a reasonably small fan base, the chatter about the Dark Eldar this week has been all-consuming!
Forums and boards have lit up with Voidraven rumours and blurry shots from all over the world.
But today we finally get our first look at the centrepiece of the new Dark Eldar releases, the Voidraven bomber. As the Dark Eldar don't use tanks. this could be seen as the Baneblade of their army - a large vehicle that delivers tremendous punch.. and it is a large vehicle!
Apart from the Voidraven, this week White Dwarf also gives us a look at the new Dark Eldar Codex, the Painting Guide, a battle report with two huge forces, Jes Goodwin chats about the Voidraven and... well Jes Goodwin talks about the Voidraven!!
Is there anything more to say?

Does The Dark Eldar Voidraven Have A Second Option?

I was looking over the images of the Voidraven Bomber on Grot Ordely and I think there may be hidden shots of a second option in the kit.
If you look closely at the plane underneath the top Voidraven, there are definite differences:
1) The front of the top Voidraven has a clear canopy and a bombardier - the Voidraven underneath has a forked front, not unlike the Razorwing.
2) The top Voidraven has a small wing on it's side - the one underneath doesn't.
3) The top Voidraven has two missiles on it's upper wings - the one underneath has a single larger missile.

What do you think? Could the Voidraven have a second option in the kit?

The crew over at Bell of Lost Souls Lounge have spoken - it seems this might just be a Razorwing after all!
Oh well - a man can dream...

DreamForge Impress With Interior Shots of the Eisenkern APC!

Dreamforge have just released a new shot of their Eisenkern APC, this time the inside - and it's spectacular!
You can see the angle of the roof in the upper left hand corner giving you a good idea of head clearance and also the room allocated to each trooper. Notice the hardpoints for the guns, plus the different leg and arm options - looks like 2 different arm options and 2 different leg options. The shoulder rail also looks like it can be left to move freely - so many options for weathering and detailing!

So what do you think of this latest look? This make you even more interested? Certainly puts GW on notice next time they look at updating the Rhino kit!

White Dwarf #34 - New Dark Eldar & Wicked Conversions

The Dark Eldar seem to be very much on the outer when it comes to the WH40K universe. There don't seem to be that many players despite having probably the nicest and most advanced miniatures in the range - ball and socket joints are pretty standard across the line.
Thanks to the mastery of Jes Goodwin (who designed an amazing miniatures range) and Phil Kelly (who worked with Goodwin for years on a definitive background) the Dark Eldar are a very well fleshed out civilization.
This week sees the preview of the first of 3 weeks of releases to add to the current range - the Haemonculi and their minions the Wracks.
Like previous releases, they dominate this week's White Dwarf - so if you'[re not into Dark Eldar... WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU?

Onslaught Miniatures Announce new Conversion Bitz!

Onslaught Miniatures have just announced their new Bits range for their 6mm range of miniatures.
So far it's for their OTC/ TAU range and Sisterhood/ Sisters of Battle lines, but keep your eyes peeled!

Also announced was the anticipated pre-order for their Stygian/ Dark Eldar range which look amazing!

Alternate Undead Forces For Nagash!

The united Undead forces of Nagash continue to sweep through the Warhammer universe, and as your forces get larger you may get a hankering for something a little more varied in your army.
GW's skeletons are built to rank up, which is fine, but if you're looking for a centerpiece, an elite unit or just something cooler, maybe Otherwold Miniatures have something a bit different to offer!
I saw these today and was pretty impressed bu the poses! What do you think?

Otherworld have a whole lot of other fantasy miniatures, many based on the original D&D and Fighting Fantasy archetypes eventually used by Games Workshop to design their universe.
If you're a Beardy like me - their pig-faced Orcs will bring back some memories!

White Dwarf Issue #33 Review - Space Hulk & More Space Hulk!

Long time fan favourite, Space Hulk is making a comeback, and this week White Dwarf is absolutely bursting with it!
Space Hulk was a board game first introduced back in 1989 which used Games Workshop Terminators and Genestealers in a battle of turn-based blood letting. The game was great and my family were subjected to playing it for years. Sorry mum!
Issues of White Dwarf at the time released a number of added scenarios and also rules to play Space Hulk with, for example, normal power armoured Space Marines - these were awesome!
But back to this week's White Dwarf - as I said it is dominated by Space Hulk, but we also get a look at the united forces of the Undead under Nagash and Sprues and Glue looks at how to make your own undead horde. PLUS a Space Hulk painting guide!

BREAKING: Dream Forge Release New APC Release Details & Pic

Dream Forge have just released a new image of their much anticipated Eisenkern APC plus some very tantalising details for those of us waiting!
Release looks like November with the first previewed variants being released at the same time.
As far as options go, there is an optional grill for the front if you don't like the armour.

BREAKING: New Solar Auxilia Models Spotted... A FW Rethink?

There's some pretty cool Breaking News from Forge World's Open Day in the Netherlands via a fellow Australian Blogger over at A Galaxy in Flames - and it's all about Solar Auxilia, but instead of the previous bucket-heads we've seen, these are dynamic and, dare I say it, interesting! Alan Bligh has told a number of people that the next Heresy books will centre around the battle for and isolation of Terra - so could these be the stalwart defenders?

Warhammer: Visions #8 Review - Yet More Instagram Shots!

Does that title sound bitchy? It's not meant to, but it seems that with the release of Nagash and the End of Times, Games Workshop have discovered filters. They've always done lighting, but now it's filters, bless their hearts.
This issue is actually a slight departure for Games Workshop and it could just be because of timing, but this issue includes the still-on-pre-order Morghasts! Usually we don't get soon to be released miniatures but here they are! Seems like a good idea to me!
But there's not just the undead, we get a look at the whole release of Space Wolves, a smashing Army of the Month, some washed out pictures from a year ago and some stellar 'Eavy Metal and Parade Ground miniatures. There's also some exclusive Paint Splatter guides for the Mortarchs and of course Blanchitsu, fast becoming my favourite part of Warhammer: Visions!

Mortarchs of Nagash - Unboxing and Review

The Mortarchs of Nagash, Mannfred Von Carstein, Neferata the Queen of Vampires and Arkhan the Black are Necromancer Nagash's most feared Lieutenants and they're all in one box!
Riding on Dread Abyssal mounts, these miniatures have caused quite a stir since they were first seen, so much so that pre-orders have been outstripping demand. Shelf stock is low, so if you want one, now is the opportunity you need to grasp - or you can wait until this all dies down a bit.
But where's the fun in that?
Braving the rain and a suburb with roads closed due to a street festival (ergh) I ventured out this morning and grabbed one of only two on shelf at my local GW. Want to see what's in the box with the scary guy on the front?

White Dwarf #32 Review - Morghasts & the Skeleton Legions

The introduction of Nagash and The End Times has apparently seen a boom in Warhammer Fantasy sales across Games Workshop stores this week.
Even online retailers are seeing Nagash and his followers flying off the shelves.
So it's no surprise to see the domination of Warhammer Fantasy in this week's White Dwarf.
Last week it was the Mortarchs (released this week - read our unboxing) and this week it's Nagash's elite bodyguard, the Morghasts.
Apart from being cool looking miniatures, they actually have a really cool back story.
But what else is in this issue?
We have the Spirit Host, 'Eavy Metal, Armies on Parade and a battle report with a very nice darkly painted Empire army!

Dark Eldar Force Update

3/9/2014

With the impending release of the new Dark Eldar Codex, I figured it was time to get a bit of a wriggle on with my Dark Eldar force - as yet unnamed!
It's not exactly an imposing force so far, with a Raider, 3 x Reavers and a few troops.
Well now I can at least add two more troops to the ranks of my deadly Dark Eldar!
With my Trueborn in the works and more Reavers to paint, it was time to work on the bulk of my Kabalites. I've pretty much got them down to only 4 hours each now, which is pretty good considering the usual amount of time I spend on them!
With the power of Jes Goodwin's models behind me, how could I go wrong? Well...
