An Odds & Ends Weekend & Forgeworld Goodness - Pre-orders

With the flurry of excitement around Kill Team over the last few weeks, it's a very quiet week from GW this week, so we've branched out this week, including some new Horus Heresy from Forgeworld.
But first, Warhammer Underworlds has been a big success for Games Workshop, and the latest incarnation - Direchasm – is now sporting single combat scenarios with Arena Mortis. No new minis, but you do get new upgrade cards and a double-sided game board. For the Destruction players there's also some really ugly dice with the Direchasm Grand Alliance Destruction Dice Pack.
In books this week we get a rather nice surprise with the Art of Warhammer Age of Sigmar and Warhammer Fantasy Battles
bringing us pretty pictures for inspiration and amazement from covers and batteltomes across that universe. If reading is more you thing, then Sanction & Sin in paperback might get your short story buzz on - another good things for inspiration!

With the lack of GW miniatures, and the seeming influx of Horus Heresy content, there are two new reinforcements for the Imperial Fists - an Imperial Fists Legion Terminator Praetor and Imperial Fists Legion Praetor in MK III plate. Both are nicely dynamic poses, and with the MKVI set ideally appearing soon, it's potentially a great time for Heresy gamers. Fear not other Legions, for you are also being served, with the updated Legion Graviton Gun Set.

New Bandai Marine To Break The Bank & Kill Team Week #2

Just in time for the "you'll all get a box of Kill Team if you order it... oh oops, we're selling out and we still have the Australian and NZ warehouse so they might miss out", the warehouse for Australia and New Zealand has reopened to orders. Distribution we will see about, but orders it is open to!

Well here we are, week 2 of Kill Team pre-orders, which sees two bundles added to the list from last week, the Kill Team Essentials Collection and the Kill Team Rules Collection.
The big release this week, however, is the BANDAI: Ultramarines Captain Action Figure. Two things to really note about this figure - how incredibly plastic it looks compared to the previous releases (have a look at that awful ammunition belt) and the price. Unless this is a mistake, you could buy an entire army for $500+ AUD it's listed at. Makes us wonder how this will sell, or if it will add to the disquiet in the community around GW prices...

Plastic Krieg & New Orks Usher in Kill Team - Pre-Orders

With the ranked battle version of Warhammer in it's Old World form coming from Forge World, it's interesting to see skirmish games coming from the main studio - Warcry, Silver Tower and the Underworlds series, Necromunda and more. This week it's Warhammer 40K's turn with the reinvention of Kill Team, alongside the promise of a whole new combat system. It is interesting to see this not only having a two week delivery window, but also the rules, dice and extra bits from the boxed game being offered in the same week as the box release. And with the promise of add-ons each quarter (see below) this could be the 40K Warcry, which would be amazing!!

The big-mutha release is of course the boxed game - Warhammer 40,000 Kill Team: Octarius. With brand new Orks and plastic Krieg, all with multiple weapon options, and Ork terrain (some re-used) this is a hefty box for many a 40K player. Now if, like us, you want to ply the game but don't need the box, then happily you can pick up the Kill Team Core Book and the Kill Team Compendium - which contains the rules for 19 different factions, plus how to use the new "Ploy" system in Kill Team missions. You can also get the Tac Ops Cards and the Killzone Essentials. Now if you do buy the box, then you may get one of the limited edition Kill Team: Octarius Metal Combat Gauge. If you're a dice fa, then get excited as there are dice for Death Korps of Krieg, the Ork Kommandos, Adeptus Astartes (featuring the old Angels of Death icon) and the forces of Chaos.
In books we have the new Helwinter Gate in hardback, the Covens of Blood in paperback, and the latest version of the fan-favourite The Chronicles of Malus Darkblade: Volume One in paperback.
It's also a White Dwarf week with Issue 467.

Knights vs Sorcerors In The 40K Universe - Pre-Orders

Welcome to this week's pre-orders, and for those of us in Australia and New Zealand - zero way of ordering. Have to feel sorry for New Zealand and the parts of Australia not in lockdown! Wonder if this will see a change of policy in terms of distribution in this neck of the woods.
This week sees the release of the Hexfire boxed set, and with the seeming lacklustre performance of Age of $igmar: Dominion, it will be interesting to see how this goes. In fact seeing the price point on what is effectively a box of old minis with two new characters, it will be truly interesting to see how strong this release is - being two pretty niche forces, though thematically well tied together.

The release of Hexfire sees two witchy-poo forces go up against each other, with two brand new characters leading the charge. This box is of course a great excuse for the release of two new Codex - one for Grey Knights, plus their Dice and Datacards - and one for the Thousand Sons, plus their Dice (which you'd kind of expect to be sparkly) and Datacards
Now if you're a big fan of either side, then you might decide to go for one of the deluxe bundles - the Shining Ceramite Collection with the game and all the Grey Knights goodies plus a pretty print, or the All Is Dust Collection with the game and all the Thousand Sons wonderments and print!
Blood Bowl keeps rumbling along, with the Shambling Undead Double-sided Pitch and Dugouts set plus the Undead Team Dice Set and Team Card Pack.
In books we have the very on-brand paperback version of Deathwatch: The Long Vigil, some Blood Angel-goodness in Darkness in the Blood in paperback, two of the tweens-focussed books Battle for the Soulspring: Book 6 and Tomb of the Necron: Book 6, speaking of Necrons the paperback of The Infinite and The Divine is coming, and Broken City gets it's paperback release. Now of course if you're down under, then you can look but not touch - so enjoy the look!
