This week's White Dwarf carries the headline "New Warhammer 40,000 Heroes! Champions of the Imperium". That's kind of a big statement for one Blood Angels Chaplain and one Blood Angels Termie Captain... just makes me wonder if there might be more heroes down the track - maybe Chapter specific like these ones or generic - either way looks like there might be some new centre pieces for your army on the way! This issue has quite a lot of new product actually; from the much-anticipated Mont'ka book to a very cool Tech-Priest Enginseer (which unfortunately comes with a Leman Russ tank), the Imperial Assassins (now available outside the boxed Execution Force game) plus the final; part of the Damocles Gulf campaign - which you think could have gone on longer, frankly! Where's the Tau love? So is this issue worth a look or is it a week to pick up some more paint? + + More After The Jump + + |
Is it just me or is some of the imagery of the Blood Angels becoming a little over the top!
There was a point where it was an element of their look and mainly part of their mythos, but now it seems to be all consuming and not entirely practical. The miniature itself is fine - but really he's just a tad camp.

Meanwhile the other character for the Blood Angels on show this week is the Terminator Captain. He may look familiar, and in fact he was first seen in the Baal: Deathstorm boxed set but now available for the first time on his lonesome. BTW, can someone please update the Blood Angels' haircuts!

Now just to put it out there - these models are $56 AUD each. For one model. Is it worth it? Really??
Here's a puzzle though - in the back of this issue in the price list it lists these guys as being $53 AUD. I might be able to cop that for 4 models considering they are characters etc... but this lists them as $53 EACH!
Surely not!... Nope - the site says $53 each! That's absurd!!
The great thing about this Leman Russ Tech-Command set is that it comes with the Tech-Priest Enginseer. The real pity, however, is that it comes with the very over-used Leman Russ tank.
Here's hoping the Enginseer mini will be available separately.

Monet'ka is also available in a deluxe version which includes the Kauyon supplement from the other week.
Also on show is the Garro model from Forge World in his Hand of the Sigillite gear.
Big love for his retro MKVI Bolter, but is it just me or does that eagle on his chest look a little too big? It looks like it's been nailed on their after being shot out of the sky...

Then we get to the big stuff - the Relicos Militarum. 16 sprues of scenery drawn from 5 different terrain kits to create a pretty imposing piece. This is pretty much all you would need to build a centrepiece or even a large objective in any game. It's not cheap, but it's certainly got a Hell of a lot of play value in it.
Verdict
I really can't believe Farsight is back and there's no fanfare. I'm sorry, but that's just weird...
So where would I be spending my money this week - Is it a Pot of Paint Week or a White Dwarf Week?
Pot of Paint for me.
