This week is the continuation of the Astra Militarum release, with the Hydra/ Wyvern kit taking centre stage, a look at the Codex: Astra Militarum and interestingly Forge World's Horus Heresy Book 3 - Extermination. With the disappointment of Warhammer Visions #3 it's nice to see there is actually something to read in the White Dwarf this week. Both the Hydra and the Wyvern kit are based on the ubiquitous Chimera chassis, but instead of the closed turret of the previous Wyvern/ Hydra, the new kit has an open turret, crew and detailed interior.
Nic Ho is the man behind it, and he's really revitalised the idea of this anti-aircraft kit. As much as the Chimera chassis is a little boring, the large open swivelling turret just looks great!

We get some really nice shots of the interior, the crew (Notice the different helmets to normal Guardsmen) and some of the new additions to the chassis.

The very brief look we get at the Codex: Astra Militarum is interesting as it does mention the old regiments that GW doesn't really service anymore - maybe it points to their return, or at least some conversion kits!
There's also a look at the Order Cards seemingly vital to properly fielding your Astra Militarum force.

The inclusion of Forge World's 3rd volume in their Horus Heresy series is kind of interesting. You don't learn anything that you haven't seen online really. These books are great!
A battle report if that's your thing.

Paint Splatter is back to tell you more painting advice you probably already know, but the inclusion of the metal wear is interesting. The Forge World modellers generally use 4B and 6B pencils for paint wear. I wonder if the GW guys do too and this is just a simple way to get people doing paint wear?
The designers notes featuring Nic Ho and Andy Clark is actually quite cool. I like how open they are about their thoughts. It's a good addition to the magazine.
I'd think an article on Imperial Guard/ Astra Militarum markings would be good too. If people are starting to paintup their tanks, and article like that could really help people out.

Considering you also get the stats for the new Hydra/ Wyvern kit, this is good value!
