With the prices of Games Workshop miniatures continuing to climb - especially if you're in Australia - many people seem to be turning to recasters in Asia to build their armies. You may have seen our recent tests on NOT Fail Cast miniatures, which were all very nice and it seems NOT Fail Cast are coming on in leaps and bounds, stocking a huge range of products. So are NOT Fail Cast the new one-stop shop if you buy recast miniatures? With cheap 3D printers, some people are reporting that the stock from China is low quality - so would you use a regular supplier like NOT Fail Cast? |
Not only are they stocking current models from Games Workshop, Forge World, other suppliers, their own miniatures and also plastic/resin copies of older metal figures including their recent release of a Reaver Titan in Epic scale - a miniature not available for many many years! Recasting seems to be on the rise and I'd be curious to hear your thoughts on recasting and your experiences with the Chinese guys or NOT Fail Cast.

this company is considerably more expensive than Yoymart, especially since they charge for shipping. Not Fail Cast Thunderfire Cannon $44 including shipping to UK, Yoymart price: $25.60

That is true, Sir Knight, but so far I have found their quality to be better than some of the Chinese stuff (Ali Express) that I have seen. I haven't seen any Yoymart gear, so hard for me to judge. Do you use much in the way of recasters?

There seem to be two variations on pricing from casters: one is the cheap as chips one (yoymart isnt the cheapest), and then the "usd for pounds" comparison. not linked to quality as far as I can tell but just different approaches to the market. ill be interested to see how the quality is from these guys as a "premium" supplier.

and to clarify that, the pound to usd conversion saves an Australian buying, say the Avenger strike fighter about 63$ equating to about a 40% discount. the cheaper casters would give a roughly 60-65% discount on the item. fron then you have shipping of course.

Really great point, Rob! I hadn't thought of it this way. The tiered approach may in fact be in play. Any saving I'm sure is more than welcome in the marketplace.
