As you may know, my Armies On Parade this year is Tau. This is my very first Armies On Parade - in fact my very first painting comp ever, so all new territory. I recently decided that the Tau force needed an Imperial adversary that they were showing their might to, so a Planetary Governor being given one last chance to join the Tau Empire for the Greater Good came to mind. Wit limited space, and as much as I dislike the vehicle, the Taurox was perfect, and to say it was a delight to make and paint! The Planetary Governor and his advisor are from the Regimental Advisors set, and the bodyguard (one of two) is a Space Marine Scout torso, Tempestus Scion arms, Cadian legs and a Skitarii head. |
I love the stance on the Governor - so pompous! His Astropath advisor isn't amazing, but he'll have to do.
I really love playing with all the imperial bits and I think this recipe for the bodyguard is surprisingly effective. May throw together a quick driver to show what a normal infantry guy would be like.
The wheels are from an Ork vehicle (minus the spikes) with sprue added underneath to attach them.
The interior is fully detailed with screens and cables, plus wear and grime. The crew compartment was painted Celestra Grey just like an armoured car would be to reflect light but the back of the cabin is painted to match the rest of the vehicle.
Painting the Tarox was fun, and I can see how it fits into the Imperial Guard now. I wasn't initially a fan, but is it was lowered and configured like a half track it's not as bad! Tempted to do more...
