So here we are with Black Library Celebration 2022, a bit smaller than previous years, but a few fun bit for fans. Stand out for us this year is the box art for the two latest plastic Horus Heresy characters. Apart from the large Horus Heresy Boxed sets, previous releases have had the Warhammer 40,000 branding with a smaller Heresy brand of some sort. But this week we see a dedicated Horus Heresy packaging that makes it stand out from the other Warhammer items. Will we see more like this? One can only hope it is a happy portent of things to come.
As mentioned above, the ranks of the Horus Heresy expand with two characters from the pages of the Horus Heresy Siege of Terra series; Fafnir Rann and Dominion Zephon. Being in plastic, both have amazing kitbashing possibilities written all over them.
Interesting that the new novella Sigismund: The Eternal Crusader Limited Edition is set at the end of the Great Crusade while he was still an Imperial Fist and hadn't moved to form the Black Templars. Set at the Imperium's height rather than the lows of the Horus Heresy, it will be curious the tine this novels sets.
Speaking of Horus Heresy, the latest map in the series is out Siege of Terra: The Defence of the Lion's Gate. All faux leather, this is the same map that appeared in one of the previous novel releases.
A very cool looking novel coming during this event is the Eisenhorn: Xenos – Illustrated and Annotated Edition in hardback. Beautifully presented, this is surely a must on most people's shelves. It has been released a few times over the years, but never this pretty. Now if you do like old Eisenhorn then check out this rather gaudy Bookmark, that will surely destroy your pages...
The new The Successors: A Space Marine Anthology in hardback, features some interesting Chapters we don't always hear much about. From old faves like the Flesh Tearers to the new poster boys, the Emperor's Spears, who get two stories!
Looking like he's posing for his next album cover, Astorath has returned in his new novel Angel of Mercy in hardback, and the hoofed wonder, Kragnos has his own novel, Avatar of Destruction, also in hardback.
In surely good news that gets us closer to the next Limited Edition Horus Heresy novel, the paperback of Saturnine The Horus Heresy: Siege of Terra Book 4 is also here.
The fan's pick for this year are Witch Hunter and Cadian Blood, both in paperback, which have been republished just for this event with their original covers.
Also, head into GW stores this weekend and grab the free Black Library Celebration 2022 paperback for some short story goodness. Sometimes these and the Advent Calendar books are the best stories released all year!
