Dreamforge NOVA Cannon Review

You may have seen my recent post about the Dreamforge H.E.L Cannon, so as a sort of companion piece, I also bought the NOVA Cannon
If you've kept an eye on the on-going Dreamforge Leviathan Project page, you would know the Leviathan is a truly epic miniature - 8.5 inches of muscled goodness - with the ability to swap out it's weapon arms.
The NOVA Cannon may not be as long as the H.E.L Cannon, but it's not out done. It's a snub nosed twin-barrelled powerhouse.

Again the sprues are nicely spaced out with lots of crisp detailing and a really nice feature Wargames Factory use, which is stackable sprues - no more slip-sliding away for your piles of sprues!
Notice at the top of the picture the alternate upper arm armour to allow this to go on the left or right arm - value for money from the guys and gals at Dreamforge.

In my previous review of the H.E.L Cannon, I mentioned how the Nova Cannon and H.E.L Cannon had the same housing. Though externally they are the same, inside they are not! Ooops...

Here is the place where the barrells meet the housing and you can see that unlike the H.E.L Cannon, the NOVA Cannon has pins to lock it in place. It would take some fiddling to get the housing to be truly universal across the weapon platforms. 

Here is the assembled NOVA Cannon (minus the arm section). Notice the cooling vents over the barrels.
When removed, you can see there are moulded details underneath allowing you to paint them and still show through the vents themselves. I assembled mine differently to the instructions so I could remove the vents and paint the details then place the vents back on.

A head-on view of the front snubbed nose barrels. I have left these off before painting as getting behind them will be a pain.

Here is an idea of scale with a Forge World Space Marine. Certainly not as long as the H.E.L Cannon, but a good size and certainly a good secondary weapon in my mind.
I'm really looking forward to painting this up!

The Dreamforge kits are great.
I mean I've gushed about them before - Hell they get their own page - but I can't recommend them highly enough!
So far I have been happy and impressed with both the Dreamforge weapon add-ons.
Love to get my hands on the Ripper Saw - maybe soon!
