Warhammer Quest: The Silver Tower could have possibly been called The Silver Juggernaut, because Games Workshop are rolling this thing out like crash mat at a judo tournament! Not only are we getting the game this week, but inside White Dwarf this week, we see the very first expansion pack of heroes. Bringing four of the currently available Age of $igmar characters into one set and including the game cards to make them work in the new board game is clever of Games Workshop and you'd have to wonder if this will happen with other games. Certainly we are still waiting for the boxed sets to come out of Betrayal at Calth, but small boxes like these at a discounted priced not only brings new characters into the game and therefore more players, but gets the sales of character models (which are not cheap in Age of $igmar) moving into people's hands. ++ More After The Break ++ |
Priced at $95 AUD it's certainly a good way to get these models, and cheaper, with the RRP on these individually set at $192 AUD. The Tzeentch Sorcerer is also an older model and no longer available according to the webstore this morning.
Curious this set didn't come with a Battle Mage or the like instead of the Tzeentch Sorcerer, plus we already have one Stormcast and one Fyreslayer in the game itself, so there is a bit of duplication in this expansion.
Space Marine Legends continues with Cassius which centres around Chaplain Cassius of the Ultramarines.
Realmgate Wars: Great Red audio drama sees the Stormcast Eternals team up with Ironjawz for the most awesome house party in the world.... no seriously they like to party! Not in this audio drama though!
Verdict
I can see that The Silver Tower is a big release and there are lots and lots of elements and I think that the GW team put a lot of love into it - you can see that by the character app you can download, the level of detail in every miniature and the amount of thought that has gone into it.
The thing is - if you don't care, it doesn't matter to you!
Personally new eek needs to offer something else apart from this game. It is really nice to see a game released and then the next week it just disappears, but this is starting to feel like overload.
Don't get me wrong, I bought the game, so this has elements that are interesting to me, but I can see from other angles that this issue may really not be for those not immersed.
