Blood for the Blood God: A translucent paint, similar to a wash. It dries with a gloss, wet look finish that allows any painter to create a realistic blood effect on their miniatures. This is really interesting to use and needs a bit of fiddling with to get right. The glossy and blobby nature of the paint really does look like blood! Be perfect for a Cauldron of Blood too. Here's the handy video tutorial Nihilakh Oxide: An opaque wash that can be applied to the recesses and cracks of a miniature to represent the weathering of brass or bronze. For corroded metal; interesting, but for those already doing this with normal paints, there really is no difference except the wash is premixed. Here's the handy video tutorial Agrellan Earth: Enables any painter to create a cracked earth effect on the bases of their miniatures. Now this is cool! I painted it on thickly then left it in the sun for about 10 minutes and as you can see it cracked like an Easter Egg in a shopping bag. Really nice effect and this wasn't completely dry. Will absolutely be using this again! Here's the handy video tutorial Nurgle's Rot: This nasty looking, bright green, paint... Whether you're adding pustules, snot, buboes, or even vomit, this should be your first choice paint. Look if you paint Nurgle this will be great, but it goes on a bit weirdly for me. I would suggest one thin coat, let it dry a bit, then another coat otherwise it's a bit of a mess. Here's the handy video tutorial Typhus Corrosion: A wash that has been specifically designed to add streaks of oily rust to Citadel Miniatures. The paint itself also contains tiny micro-beads which leaves a subtle texture when dry. As someone who washes with paints rather than inks, this was pretty much like a dark brown wash with a slight texture. It does look great, but nothing revolutionary.Be great for tank tracks though. Here's the handy video tutorial Ryza Rust:If you're painting rust, Ryza Rust should part of your paint collection. It's a Citadel Dry paint, meaning that you apply it with a drybrush on your miniatures. IT'S NOT IDEAL - BUT THIS HAS TO BE PENDING Here's the handy video tutorial |
Citadel Colour have released a new line of "Effects" paints... but are they useful or any good?
