The last ones released didn't exactly impress, with shallow detailing marring the overall look.
Warhammer 40K Hero Bases
The first thing you'll notice is the size of these bases - they're big! Thankfully these do have much better detail on them than the bases we reviewed earlier this year too. Now here's something interesting... in the set there are a number of skulls; human, Generstealer Hybrid, what could be Orks, Tau (for the very first time) and also... what looks like Tzaangor! Yes that's right foot soldiers of Tzeentch in 40K! This is the first time we've seen actual proof that they could be on their way! Good set too. Get on it! |
Warhammer Age Of $igmar Hero Bases
Unlike the 40K Hero Bases, the Age of $igmar ones are a real mix of sizes and themes. They are also a mix of quality too. There are some beautiful Khorne skull bases full of detail, a skull altar and a lovely tree trunk one - but then you get a few of the Stormcast themed ones and the shallow detail is all too obvious! Thankfully the majority are actually very good, though there's three that would make a tight fit for any hero to stand well on. A big improvement on previous ones that's for sure. |
Verdict
These are good sets and worth having even if it's just for the odd hero you might build.
