Necromunda - fan favourite, but like the days of old being ignored by the big studio of Games Workshop - is getting a bit of love this weekend. The latest expansion, The Aranthian Succession – The Vaults of Temenos, moves the narrative forward as well as brings some new characters to the game. It's been a long time since this was promised and although the arrival is great, how do Games Workshop expect the Community to stay interested without constant attention? Speaking of attention, someone wasn't paying attention when the Enforcer 'Sanctioner' Pattern Automata were designed as they look more like background goons in a Luc Besson film than anything fitting the look and feel of Necromunda. Finally making an appearance are the Cawdor Ridge Walkers which, although designed for Ash Wastes, someone at Games Workshop realised they forgot to release, so they have pushed them out today. To accompany these merry riders, there's Cawdor Vehicle Gang Tactics Cards and a Dice Set.
Fans of Middle-Earth rejoice as a new terrain set is released. The new Gondor Settlement can be bought in one collection, or you can buy the individual parts in the form of the Gondor Mansion, Gondor Ruins and Gondor Tower. These are pricey sets, with the Settlement costing more than the largest Necromunda scenery box that included a huge collection of terrain.
We are still Arks of Omen-ing and therefore we need more Boarding Patrols, so bring forth the Adeptus Custodes, Thousand Sons and Adepta Sororitas.
Citadel Colour have two new themed collections, the Battle Ready Paint Set and the Parade Ready Paint Set. Now these don't seem to make sense - surely the paint you need depends on the thing you are painting. Having paint collections around Base, Contrast etc makes perfect sense, but this seems very strange. They are discounted, so it could be a good way to boost your paint collection if nothing else.
In books this week it's Vaults of Terra Book 3: The Dark City in paperback. There's some good feedback on this series, so that's really positive!
