Some time ago we came across a company on Etsy called Scorched Earth Terrain. Terrain can be horribly expensive, especially with postage costs outside Europe or the US getting higher and higher - so we went searching and found this small Australian outfit that are doing some really cool MDF terrain that would fit very nicely into any futuristic or even Gothic wargame. Having only had limited experience with MDF, it was a bit of a gamble, but we ordered some and were pleasantly surprised at the quality, finish and excellent instructions that came with it. So today we grabbed the PVA glue and started construction |
We ordered the Small Base Kit II, which is named deceptively because you actually get a whole lot of stuff! Each element is allocated a sheet of really sturdy MDF, labelled and numbered very clearly (right) The core to the set are these buildings (below left) which can be stacked to create towers, or have a roof put on top of them (below right). These elements are held in place by rare earth magnets (included in the set) which hold each piece securely. I did mine not very well and mixed a few of the polarities - yes I know it's not hard, I'm just a knob! |
That's quite a bit of stuff!!
These products are really cool and work in really well with the any sci-fi world. We even measured and the new 32mm bases fit on the walkways perfectly!

If you're considering some terrain but not sure where to start, give these guys at Scorched Earth a go. There are other kits, including walkways, intersections to make winding bridges and even supports to give height to your ever expanding cityscape.
I'll give these a lick of paint and do an update, but from what I have seen, these will paint up nicely too.
