 | The release of the Skaven Warlord is a pretty major step up from the older model that has been around for some years. Games Workshop continue with their run of clam shell-packaged multi-part plastic miniatures. Like other releases these are truly multi-part but not multi-pose. In fact the Skaven Warlord has no alternate weapons or heads. What you see is what you get - which is a bit of a shame really.

The Warlord is spaced out over one sprue with a few interesting assembly steps - notice the split right forearm. hand, not unlike the newer Dark Elves.
 The staff is a single piece with the hand moulded on and a dynamic standard flying in the breeze. |  The body - torso and legs are all one piece - is weirdly divided up but well detailed. |

Here you can see how the back section of the torso is also attached to the front of the left foot and the chainmail undercoat (right). Curious if this hides the join lines as the Dark Elf kits do this in a similar if far less dramatic way.
Surprisingly the head isn't as detailed as you'd think for a major character. It does fit in well with the Stormvermin troops though!
Verdict
The Skaven Warlord is a nice little character - pretty cheap, but unfortunately lacking modelling options straight out of the packet.
The modular nature of the kit with existing Skaven kits is yet to be explored, but I'm sure this will be a favourite for many and we'll be seeing many of these leading bands of Skaven for some time.
