 | As I was saying in the Skitarii review earlier today, they really were a release out of the blue, and when talk turned to support vehicles on legs, the world went all Hoth-crazy!! Who doesn't like a good walker? The Ironstrider is a combi-kit that can either build the Ironstrider or the Sydonian Dragoon. For me the Dragoon has a really other-wordly feel to it so I love it - the Ironstrider is guns on legs...! As normal with the unboxing and reviews here on Beardy Hammer I'm going to break the box into parts...
Body Construction

The construction of he body is actually quite simple - the body itself is in two parts and the legs are interchangeable from left to right. The bulk of the leg is solid, with a separate foot.
You will notice that the pose we see these kits in is either right or left leg forward. This is actually done by just swapping the legs from one side to the other. Not rocket science!

Here is a nice little touch. This kit has a fair few nice little touches and the two handle bars for a left handed rider or a right handed rider is but one. This will expand some modelling options if some good planning is done before hand.

The armament of the Ironstrider are either Las-cannons (left) or auto-cannons (right). As a nice change from your conventional kit, these are all one piece - not sanding barrels!! Either are a great addition to a bitz box!

The little creepy hands are really nicely done, actually looking like they could move rather than moulded as one bit. The front guard is also moulded as one but looks a lot sturdier than I've seen some of these fragile bits before.

There's a few antennae and other things to attach which will add some personality. The holstered rifle rocks my world! Imagine that on the back of an Inquisitor retinue or a mercenary character. Too cool.
Pilot/ Crewman

Time for the good bit - the pilot. I like to think of the Dragoons as 'knights' sweeping across the battlefield smashing through blocks of infantry and causing havoc. As you can see here, the hoods win out with 4 head options, and we only get one helmeted Dragoon head. Bit of a shame, it's a great helmet!

As far as hand weapons go, there's pistols, a rifle and that taser lance which is such a brilliant design aesthetic. Evocative story telling abounds in my mind.
Nice Little Touch
I mentioned nice little touched earlier, but this is one of the examples - on the armoured plates there are decorations that are directly linked to both the Imperial Knights and the titans! This is clever for a united looking force and a great detail that someone clever thought of!
Verdict
This is a pretty good kit. Not very flexible, but a great piece in your army! I do think that this was going to be a dual kit - as in you would get 2 - and they changed their mind at the last minute.
