... and so begins the so-called year long global campaign "Gathering Storm" - and what a big launch they have with very large army sets, harking back to the days of the Armageddon events.
First off we have the first book Gathering Storm: Fall Of Cadia - at $84 AUD it's not a bad price as far as GW go with these campaign books.. and then it's onto the miniatures!
There are three new characters to start out this campaign, we know htere are going to be more, but for now we get them all in one box, the Triumvirate of the Empire, which includes Inquisitor Greyfax, Archmagos Cawl (who is spread over 3 sprues) and Saint Celestine and her bodyguard. They also come in a steampunk slipcase cover over the box.. Speaking of boxes - I wonder how big some of thse are going to be?
The Conclave Acquisitororius is a massive set that includes the three characters backed by a Mechanicum army including a Knight. The Wrathful Crusade siumilalry comes with the three new characters, but this time backed by Black Templars and Tempestus Scions. The Grand Convocation doesn't come with the characters, but is a massive boost to your Mechanicum forces - Steven I'm looking at you! Castellans of the Imperium is a Space Marine/ Tempestus Scions box lead by a Terminator Cap[tain. The bad guys also get a look in with the Hounds of Abaddon Chaos Space Marine face-smash. Seems odd there is only one Chaos set - still this is a year long campaign and who knows what might come out...It should be mentioned that if you do order any of these you also get a framed print of Abaddon... There's also the Gathering Storm Collection with the three characters, the Fall of Cadia Book and some Psychic cards. Also this week is the Start Collecting Deathwatch set and two novels - The Red Tithe and Horus Heresy: Cybernetica.
Celestine The Saint - the old model - was in Last Chance To Buy this morning, but in Oz at least is sold out.

Having a look at one of the pages of the Gathering Storm book was interesting (below) to see what Space Marines will be involved and it look slie one of them are the Exorcists - haven't seen them in a long while, but makes sense with the amount of Inquisition around. Some of the others aren't that familair, so intersting times for hobbyists too with more Chapters to play around with.
