What a week for the undead, the skeletons, the wights, the things that go bump in the night - because they are here not only with new minis, but we also see an evolution to the two forces that terrorise the land of the living with the foot soldiers of the dead! Since the introduction of Cursed City, the forces of Death have established two very distinct personalities - with the Soulblight Gravelords going from the old trope of Vampires and ghouls, to now incorporating more fairy tale creatures and the Ossiarch Bonereapers taking on the more traditional skeleton horde role with the Necromancer role being taken by an ancient skeletal being. It could be argued that the Ossiarch Bonereapers in miniature form made the same error as the Necrons, appearing hunched over, but in the artwork being upright and proud. None the less, the differentiation between the two armies has happened over a span of probably two to three years, with the classic Fantasy elements now having their own Games Workshop stamp on them, even if those stamps are drawing from existing legend. The recent release of the samurai undead is interesting, as that veers away from the typical European look and feel we are so used to. With both armies containing skeleton soldiers, you can safely have these two faction going up against each other without too much confusion. It will be interesting to see what happens when the Tomb Kings return... and they will!
The masters of the shadow, the dark and the lurking terror of haunted woods, the Soulblight Gravelords - surely on of the most enjoyable armies out there - are here with their new Battletome, Vanguard and more. The Battletome is available in Crypt Lurker Limited Edition and Is it a Man or is a Bat Standard Edition. Like all the more recent releases, we have not one, but two special characters for this faction, with the frankly terrifying Ivya Volga, the Outcast and a lovely salute back to the past with the very old-school looking Wight King on Skeletal Steed. There's also a new Vanguard: Soulblight Gravelords which has an amazing selection of units to either start with or act as a force multiplier. Of course we also get the Warscroll Cards and Soulblight Gravelords Dice Set.
