Images courtesy of Games Workshop | Last weekend, Games Workshop surprised many of us by releasing their Warhammer 40K Librarium Edition in White Dwarf #20 and I admit it - I thought it was a great idea - even if they were smaller! But today they released images of this set. Now a rulebook this big might be okay - in fact it's bloody handy if you're tucking it into your bag - but the Codexes in this size? How will we see the pictures? Part of the joy of a Codex are the great pieces of art that set the scene, spark our imaginations and then there's the miniature showcases to inspire - this mini format doesn't lend itself to those books! I'm not going to harp on the price, but... THE PRICE! Look, I think I retract my previous statement about this being a good idea. If they release a mini stand-alone Rules I'd buy it, but shrunken Codexes? Not for me and from what I'm seeing online, not for a lot of people. What do you think? A good idea or an expensive tactical error for GW when they least need it? Would you buy a mini stand-alone Rules? Would you buy a box of Codexes? |
