Although it's been a bit quiet on the War Hounds update front, the new plastic MKIII Space Marines in the Prospero boxed set have encouraged me on a small building binge. Although the MKIII suits are all-but identical, there are small differences, like the rivets being much smaller, the helmets having not as hollow eyes and not being as sloped in the faceplate. In reality you'd only know if you've painted them before and they look identical in the army! Really, it's just amazing to have plastic MKIII miniatures to convert easily, glue easily and can be used in a much more organic way with the existing plastic miniatures. The first minis I did after Prospero was released were these Tactical Support troops...any excuse to roll out more Volkites. Then it was time to use one of the new scenic bases. |
His other shoulder pad is form the Vanguard box (?) with a skull from the Age of $igmar Hero bases on top.
Quite like this guy as a basis for a Command Squad - the idea for the helmet I'm still nutting out.
