 | I had an epiphany today! After 20 months of wanted Warhammer Visions to be the hobbyists magazine, the one that doesn't have rules but has special modelling articles, alternate colour schemes to current releases, Works In Progresss and conversion workshops - I realized it will never be that, it really is just a magazine of pretty pictures - most of which we have already seen in White Dwarf, online or in a Codex. As such there's going to be a change to these reviews. They won't be as thorough as the White Dwarf reviews we do each week, because frankly there isn't as much to show - at least there isn't in it's present incarnation - but if that changes then we'll be more exhaustive and show you everything there is to see. So... this month Warhammer Visions centres a lot on the Warhammer Age of Sigmar releases, and there were a few, plus page after page of Golden Demon entrants and a very cool Army of the Month + + More After The Jump + + |
The New Releases section concentrated on the Age of Sigmar releases. The vast majority of the images we had seen before in some for or another, but the big splash pages with the close ups of the helmets and weapons (though seen before) were more detailed in this format.

Forge World have shown off their Solar Auxillia in Warhammer Visions before, but this time they get a coat of paint. Not sure if the scheme is that exciting, but it's paint. Very nice minis - super clean!
The Army of the Month is Damien Bakewell's death Guard and allies army. Tonnes and tonnes of pictures in this spread. Probably the most we have seen of an army so far. There is a lot to see, and the weathering on the Death Guard vehicles in particular is very nice - not too over done.
We then get page after page of Golden Demon 2014 entries, including Beardy Hammer follower Chris Webb's Blood Angels squad! There is also a feature on Nurgle (surprise!! I'm so bored of Nurgle I could shoot someone) and then more pictures in the Readers Parade Ground.

'Eavy Metal looks at the Tau with some really interesting geometric camouflage - worth a look if you're a Tau, or if you're like me and can't figure out a colour scheme. The detail on that purple one is cool! There's also some vehicles which or course give you greater range to show off your skill.
Back to pages and pages of miniatures... In the Spotlight looks at the miniatures of Dan Hyams, then it's Parade Ground with some monsters and retinues including that very detailed Goblin Spider! Sweet!!
It's not often we see some good shots of Word Bearers. but this is good showcase. Not sure about the take on the Word Bearers these days, but still nice miniatures especially seeing a red Blood Angels red!
John Blanche helms Blanchitsu this week with more suitably warped and twisted creatures from his brain!
Here's an oddity - Tzeetch, the second of the forgotten Chaos Gods has a nice spread here with Chaos Warriors and demons alike populating this force. Some very nice restricted palette work here!
