Warhammer: Visions was always such a great idea - a magazine for the hobbyist concentrating on great miniatures and all things hobby rather than rules and game play.
Unfortunately the execution has at time been less than sterling - in fact at times it's verged on recycling!
But looking through this month's issue, have Games Workshop finally got it right? Even a cursory look through will show you there has been a change; less recycled images, less concentration on the new releases, lots of well painted armies and 'Eavy Metal showcases - plus a Paint Splatter that works!

Warhammer visions is a great concept, but the biggest gripe you hear from people (well me!) is that Warhammer Visions seems to just be a collection of old images from White Dwarf recycled into this format with some shots from miniature competitions around the world.
Some of these competitions were years ago!
But having a look through this issue of Warhammer Visions, things seemed to have changed.

Unlike previous efforts, only 30 of the 228 pages in this issue are dedicated to new releases, and not all of those images are recycled. In fact there are some really nice shots of some inspiring models. Even Stormclaw gets a small run, but you're not beaten around the head with it.
Again, the Warhammer Visions look at Forge World releases is probably the best you will see them!
The Warhammer Heroes section this month is the bulk of the issue - army heroes from the staff of Games Workshop. Having a section like this is actually really cool. The leader is the figurehead of the army, so seeing the attention to detail really gets you into the theme of the army.
Army of the Month has also got a big bump this month. The article goes over many many pages, giving you a really good look at the this Imperial Fists force. There also seems to be more room for the words of the creator to explain their thoughts on the force.

'Eavy Metal this month does not disappoint. It's pretty standard for the great quality of their team - but still, have a look at this Carnosaur!
Kit Bash looks at making Elven lords and heroes. Lots of Green Stuff, but again, seeing the heroes gives you an idea of how the army itself is themed. We need more of these WIP articles.
Now if you're an Imperial Knight fan, this section is for you. Some amazing machines here! Such attention to detail and brilliant heraldry. a MUST for Knights fans!

Now this makes sense - Paint Splatter this month helps you out with your Space Wolf force! The only thing I would have added to this would have been all the heraldry for the various Great Companies. It's not often we see it, so this would be a perfect opportunity!

Verdict
this is a good change of direction for Warhammer Visions.
Repeating images from White Dwarf is pretty boring, so here's hoping that we don't see too much of that again. If it continues in this way there could be some great avenues for articles, including conversions, alternate colour schemes, maybe even indepth looks at Chapters like we see in the Horus heresy books.
The potential is there!
