So before you run out an buy your copy today, we've done the early work for you and picked up a copy this morning.
It is smaller than the old White Dwarf, but almost thicker.
The pages are very glossy and without the usual white border or much text accompanying each picture.
The book is divided into chapters and very nicely packed - and it is packed!
If you like miniatures and have little or no time for the sale pitch or articles with lots of text - this is the magazine for you!
The format owes a lot to the small Japanese hobby books, including the wrap around folder.
The magazine is poly bagged in a resealable packet.
Games Workshop have also rolled out the effects on this, with all the paint jobs looking very smooth and crisp - unlike some of the shots in the new White Dwarf.
John Blanche keeps soldiering on with some really nice conversions. He;'s moved away from his deconstruction period where there was a lot fo mess, to his roots as a very good converter and modeller. Great to see him back! | Now this is cool! I really hope to see more of this - they have pages of the different Hive Fleets for the Tyranids, including the Space Hulk scheme! Simple and very effective. A really great addition! |
Verdict
The quality is good, you get a lot of pics and no crappy stuff, there are modelling tips and basic tutorials.
This really is a great magazine which I will be buying again!
If you're heading out to buy one of these magazines today, grab this one.
You can look at it on the bus or train, on the lounge when something crap is on TV or just if you're looking for some inspiration.
