As you may know, we're huge fans of the Kastelan robot here at Beardy Hammer HQ and considering it's vintage takes it back to the Great Crusade era and potentially WAY before, I really wanted to add one to the War Hounds force. It's not in the rules for 30K, no, but honestly I think this is an oversight and having chatted to a few learned people and they agree. Green light in my mind! This wasn't going to be some large blue robot, it was going to look different - really stand out... and then I came across the Consul Praevian and it got more interesting!
The Consul Praevian came about at all because the Forge World model is one of our favourite of all time. Originally an Iron Warriors character, it's an amazingly dynamic miniature, that with a few nips and tucks could be made into a War Hound! The colour scheme is completely different to the rest of the War Hounds force, and was meant to be to reflect the solo nature of the Consul within a Legion - a man and his robots! His scheme follows closely the scheme on the Kastelan itself - dark metal with touches of the War Hounds blue and white heraldry. |
I couldn't find any markings for a Consul Praevian, so found this shoulder pad in the bitz box and added a Mechanicus decal from the Kastelan kit. Fits like a treat! The backpack was more blue and white to bring him back to the War Hounds.
++ The first picture is a bit off in colour, but the rest show it better ++
The clolours were kept very restricted with mainly just metallics, the blue and white and a touch of yellow for the cables (also seen on the Consul around his neck).
I added an exhaust from the Lord of Skulls to give it a more of an older look and really dirtied it up.
Haven't decided on the armament yet, so that's still to come.
