As you may know I have been in the wilds of Canada's North and wasn't able to bring this to you live, but in the interest of posterity and completion - here is the review of White Dwarf #100. Considering we've done all the rest it seemed silly to miss one! White Dwarf #100 is, as the cover says, a "Review of the Year 2015" and indeed it is! Month by month, the Games Workshop team go through the releases for that month with reflective notes and some background. As was the case last year, they are also running a poll on Miniature Of The Year 2015. Miniature of the Year is pretty hotly contested, because lets face it, humans have this annoying tendency to think for themselves and have individual opinions. How rude! Thinking back, what was your favourite mini this year? The look back also includes Forge World and Black Library, so hold onto your hats & lets have a look inside. + + More After The Jump + + |
From the End Times to Harleqiins, Necrons, Skitarii, Age of Sigmar, Tau and The Horus Heresy - it's all there.
The notes in this section are pretty good and the writing certainly isn't dry which is good.
The pictures are ones we have all seen before. As a bit of fun it would have been nice to see them all in a group shot, but alas.
It can be any five miniatures from the year (not just the ones featured in this issue or in the recap pictures above) which you then list and send off to have your say which is kind of smart because some of the releases this year have - let's face it - been pretty hit and miss..
If you take the Skitarii releases as an example, the Skitarii Rangers are excellent, but in the same release window the Sicarian Infiltrators were a bit naff.
Still, a lot of people didn't like the Kastelan Robots released this year and I love them!
Takes all sorts...
Verdict
If you're happy to look back at the year - then this is for you.
If you're after your regular weekly hobby magazine, then go buy some paint because this is not exactly what you're after!
