White Dwarf #14 Review

Wood Elves ahoy!! I'm pretty sure that's not what Wood Elves say as they charge into battle, but if you were heading out to get this issue of White Dwarf, it's an entirely apt phrase because this issue is packed with Wood Elves!!
No issue here - the miniatures look really nice - in fact I picked up one of only 3 at my Games Workshop this morning. This issue also has a few other things in there too - namely a WH40K poster! Yep - a poster!
There's also the first Project Blog which is actually really good and puts Paint Splatter to shame.
As far as an issue goes, if you're into Elves it's good, but for the rest of us it is a bit low on extra stuff... apart from miniature eye candy of course.
So is it worth going out to get? More after the jump...

So here we go, into the woods with the new Wood Elves releases...

You'd have to say that the Eternal Guard/ Wildwood Rangers is the stand out kit so far - apart from the Treemen of course. Sure, it's a set that screams "put me into ranks and send me forward into the Dwarves", but the ability to get two very diverse sets (and some cool spares) from the one box is cool... and they don't come with deer!

Speaking of deer - do the Sisters of Thorn look High Elf to anyone else? 

Here's the alternate set in that kit - the Wild Riders - who are so SO Wood Elf!
It's actually a tribute to Games Workshop that these very different looking kits come from the same box.
First person to make a Rudolph gets a gold star!

The Guardians of Deepwood Box get a look in with this spread.
Not sure it needs a two page advert - but there you go!

Battle Report - which did make me ache for more Beastmen! Isn't it their turn?

Now here's something that's really cool and puts Paint Splatter to shame, it's the Project Blog of Chris Peach as he takes us through his assembly and painting of his Treeman.
It's cut in half by this FREE POSTER (advertising WH40K 7th or 6.5th Edition) which is a bit of a shame.

Oh look - it's Paint Splatter. The green hues they create are very nice I might say...

There's this great little mini game for use with the Treemen. It's very simple and would be cool fun!

I really like this article! It's how the look of the three Elf covers says something about the Elves!

Overall this is a pretty good issue - especially if you like Wood Elves.
There's some real love and attention to detail in this issue and as far as I'm concerned, worth a read.
It may spark your interest in Wood Elves though - beware!

And speaking of Wood Elves, this seems appropriate!
