It's a massive week for Dark Eldar releases this week; the Voidraven, the new Dark Eldar Codex, the Dark Eldar Painting Guide and Warhammer Visions. Check out our reviews by clicking on the links above, but for now it's the weekly offering of White Dwarf with the rather odd looking Archon on the front! This issue not only has the final week of Dark Eldar releases, there's also Phil Kelly giving us a bit of Bretonnian action, a bit of 'Eavy Metal, a battle report with around 13 Super-Heavy vehicles and 20,000 points worth of army goodness, Sprues and Glue looks at how to make the Archon model look better (!!) and Jes Goodwin. With the Dark Eldar releases coming to an end, this issue isn't so much 'bang' as it is 'wimper'. But does that mean you shouldn't get it? + + More After The Jump + + ~ WARNING - I am not a photographer, so expect dodgy pictures below. |
Also making an appearance are the Gal Vorbak - the shock troops of the Word Bearers from Forge World. If you're into post-heresy, then this could be for you - personally I think they're a bit odd looking.
This gives yet another look into the lightning fast ruthlessness of the Masters of the Webway.
Personally I think the Archon would look better on a vehicle of some kind, but I suppose that's what Raiders and Venoms are for!
Verdict
Surely this is a good opportunity for an Eldar vs Dark Eldar Battle Report so Eldar fans can see their adversary in full flight. Also - notice it's always the new army vs a weaker opponent? I'd like to see Dark Eldar go up against Marines and really test the metal of the new rules.
