 | Twas the day after Halloween and all through the house, not a creature was stirring... at least not those that ate all the chocolate meant for the kids that didn't turn up last night! But I digress, it's Saturday, so it's White Dwarf day! It's also Warhammer Visions day, but that comes later... The idea of this week's White Dwarf was really not one that thrilled me - Tyranids... again! Sure, it's a big scary dude (or dudette if that is your thing) but i's turning up right at the tail end of WHFB and, if rumours are right, just before we get some Blood Angels or at least something interesting. What I wasn't expecting from this White Dwarf was a few cool surprises. - + + More After The Jump + + ~ WARNING - I am not a photographer, so expect dodgy pictures below. |
Grrr - argh!! Yes It's the entry of a brand new duo-kit for Tyranids. You can either choose the Toxicrene or the Maleceptor. Both of these kits are good looking and quite different from each other really. It's a rfeal tribute to the GW designers that two different looking guys can come out of the same kit.
To be honest neither really appeal to me, but the photographers did a good job making them look different enough - AND in the kit is the very cool looking captured Terminator... who seems to be missing an arm!
This week also sees some other cool releases - one of which is really handy for all of us - a mini The Rules!
Also this week, apart from the books, is a set of really nice looking Tyranid dice. These look great!!

Dark Heresy and Conquest get a bit of a plug, plus a look at the Night Lords Contemptor. Is it just me, or would the flayed skin be better as an option rather than standard?
The jump back to WHFB is probably a timely one AND with some brilliant looking armies! These are two of the best looking Chaos forces I have seen in a long time. The Chaos Unbound force is full of all kinds of minis from across the Chaos spectrum.

Then there's this force; Valkia's War Host - an epic Khorne force with some really stand out additions. Just have a look at some of these (above)! Blood For The Blood God!!

Aaaaah Paint Splatter. Pretty much the same Tyranid painting guide we have seen again and again. Nothing really new, but there you go!
There are some other features this week, including a Glottkin mini game, Codex: Apocrypha looks at the Eldar, there's rules for both the Toxicrene and the Maleceptor, and also a mini challenge vs the Toxicrene!
Verdict
There's actually a bit top this issue. You can ignore the Tyranids if you like a get excited by the Chaos forces or make paper airplanes out of the Paint Splatter section, but really you wouldn't miss out by not getting this issue because... well I just told you the best bits!
