 | Khorne has to be the best of the Chaos Gods. Sure you don't get the hot troops like Slaanesh and you can't have a head like a chicken as Tzeentch can, and you have to bath more than Nurgle does - but apart from all that, Khorne rocks the warp! Blood For The Blood God Skulls For The Throne of Khorne But I digress, this issue of White Dwarf sees the launch of the new combi-kit for the Bloodthirster of Khorne and from what we see in this issue, it's very impressive! Mainly it's a combination of old school and new school looks plus some very detailed and impressive painting by the GW team. Look closely and you will see what I mean. On that, the quality-sporadic Paint Splatter section this week is actually informative! There's also the pre-order for the Khorne Red spray, a pair of audio dramas, a Harlequins story, and a fair bit of info on the background of Khorne and his forces. There are 3 possible models to build from the Bloodthirster kit:
Right off the top, this guy has to be my favourite. I love his skull head and that big axe with the flail.
These guys are the Bloodthirster infantry. You would be safe having multiples of this guy in your force, and by switching around some weapons, you could do that easily!

Think of these guys as the Khorne Berserkers of the Bloodthirster line, they charge into battle and slice, crush and beat their adversary to death. That two handed axe is amazing and have a look at the detail put into those flames! You can see just by the texture added to this model's skin the amount of work out into the three models we see in this week's White Dwarf.
Meanwhile, we get to the elite level and the Wrath of Khorne, his chosen who hunt out those gifted with magic and scare the living crap out of them! This guy is why wizards wear robes - much easier to clean!!

Other releases for next week include the Khorne Red spray, a double audio drama and Warhammer: Visions. Interestingly Warhammer: Visions is previewing a Paint Splatter that takes you through the various Harlequin paint schemes. It will be interesting to see how detailed these will be considering how Warhammer: Visions has the scope to really delve into it!
What's interesting about this release is that despite the Bloodthrister existing in both the Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000 Universe, all the write ups and background in this issue concentrate solely on the Warhammer Universe - this despite the Bloodthirster being also listed a 40K pre-order on the Games Workshop website. I find that curious considering the current rumours of the 40K End Times...

Verdict
| Apart from these larger articles, there is also quite a lot of smaller pieces down borders and in the back of this issue and there is A LOT of information packed into them! One of those is about Valkia the Bloody (right) I wasn't aware of her before this issue and she's pretty damn cool! Would I fork out $40 for one? No, but it's good to see a female Khorne model. Move over Slaanesh!! All in all this is a pretty good issue for both 40K and WHFB as you get a look at Khorne who exists in both Universes, plus a Harlequins story and a good Paint Splatter, that as I said before is good reference to keep around. I am tempted to get another issue and cut these pages out to keep with my paints. So for me this is worth the $. Go on! |  |
Soundtrack to this Review
It may seem stereotyped, and the Beardys out there will understand what I mean, but when Khorne is around I can't help but listen to Bolt Thrower.
I started with Realm of Chaos (left) which was expressly written for Games Workshop while the band was signed to them and For Victory (right), which is a later offering but really great. A lot more modern.
