It's White Dwarf Day - ho ho ho!! Nope, no fat man in a red suit, instead we get 5 red men who look like they were designed in the 90's for a themed boxed set that never got released so have been repackaged for this current Khorne release. And boy do they look dated! As we discussed earlier this week, I think they look dreadul - a major step back from the quality releases we have seen from Games Workshop in recent times. But anyway, this is White Dwarf Day, so what else do you get in this week's issue? Well you get these crappy models, a whole lot on Archaon, but the Codex and the man/ Daemon himself, a smashing Golden Demon entry from last year, and a face off between the new Bloodthirster models and other characters in the Warhammer world, and of course Paint Splatter. Have a look at how there is a square cut into the bottom of the torsos, making them more like miniatures we would see in Dark Vengeance-style sets than a stand alone boxed set. As stated before, the sculpting quality is also very old school, being more reminiscent of the Forsaken set than any modern GW set.
He's featured a fair bit in White Dwarf and Warhammer: Visions - you can see why!
Verdict
The Archaon stuff is good, Codex: Apocrypha about Grey Seer Thanquol is quite good too, but Paint Splatter is boring and I just can't get past the disappointment of that new kit. They look NOTHING like this art...
