This week he and his forces disgorge themselves in the Warhammer 40K universe, warp-twisted Bolters and Chainswords at the ready. The first impression I get from looking over Khorne Daemonkin is how the Bloodletters and other denizens of Khorne are equally important or even more than the ubiquitous Chaos Space Marines in terms of building a force. "Khorne's Daemon Legions" - you'll be hearing that a lot form now on as Chaos Space Marine fights next to Daemon and Cultist. The new Codex: Khorne Daemonkin is upon us. I'm fascinated by the modelling ideas of a force that has daemons, Chaos Space Marines and cultists (Imperial Guard all pimped out) as one force. This is the new force structure, so there is a really interesting time for those who may have done one of those three armies and how to now put them together properly.
In reality it's not unlike the new force structure in Warhammer, post-The End Times. Just opens it up!

The Khorne Daemonkin Warband - now this is a heavy hitting force! Have a look at it! Mind you it is also pretty expensive, but if you wanted to start from scratch, throw some Imperial Guard in and you have an army!!

The new Citadel cases were a bit of a surprise until late this week and they are a new layout for GW cases.
This Crusade case (above) can hold all the troops and vehicles on the right! All of them... It's some kind of weird Xenos sorcery, but it's apparently true! The prices on these aren't totally awful, in fact the smaller Skirmish Case still holds a tonne of troops or at least a few vehicles. For most of us this may be all you need....

The other cases on the left hand side of the page here, and on the right we have the new Forge World release (only by a week or so too) the Solar Auxilia artillery. This is a major return to Rogue Trader era canon. In the old days there used to be a lot of cross over between the Imperial Guard and Space Marines when it came to equipment - Imperial Guard could use Rhinos and Land Raiders for example, and Space Marines could use Leman Russ tanks for example.

As dusc ussed above, this is where we get to the crux of it. daemons, cultists, Marines - all together in one modelling free-for-all!. Here you can understand how it all works, get a look at some alternate colour schemes for Khorne and realise how out of date the Khorne Beserkers miniatures look!
I must admit I do really like the use of black on the Khorne marines and the bone white - the altermate colour schemes on the Bloodletters really add a lot to these models too.

The Blood Tithe is something very Khorne, so if you're going to or currently do field this force, then this section will be useful to you.

The Bloodthirsters from Issue 57 get there own 40K rules and some background(ish) material.

Verdict
This issue does herald a different way to look at a Khorne force, or at least a different way than the more conventional wisdom has in recent years. It's probably closer to the novels look and feel than it has been for some time and that's frankly very smart!
I would like to see an Unbound Khorne force now though...
