The past few weeks of Skitarii releases has been pretty great! There was the Rangers/ Vanguard kit and the Ironstrider from last week, and this week it's the Sicarian Infiltrators/ Sicarian Ruststalkers (review here), the Skitarii Codex (review here) and the pre-orders for the Onager Dunecrawler. It's good stuff and although Skitarii dominate this week's issue, there is also the release of two new pieces of scenery; the Plasma Obliterator and the Promethium Pipes. Speaking of scenery, there is also a massive cityscape article too. This is one to spend a bit of time looking over. Paint Splatter is back with a pretty ordinary look at the Onager Dunewalker and there's some glimpses of Dark Angels. Dark Angels returning is no surprise, especially considering the free pin I got in my Webstore order... So what else is in this issue? + + More After The Jump + + |
Being designed for the sand of Mars, you can either have the pointed feet or the sandshoes. There's also weapons options; Phosphor Blaster, Eradication Beamer (great to see more Beamers back), the Neutron Lazer with it's tank killing power or the Icarus Array of autocannons and missiles for anti-aircraft fire!
There's a tonne of stuff here!!
I must admit I wasn't a fan of this at first, but on seeing it closer up, it's actually a really cool looking kit!
Love the look of that Icarus Array!
So this Plasma Obliterator is awesome looking. It's called the Obliterator because in one foul $140 AUS swoop it will obliterate your wallet. I'm sorry, but $140 is a lot of money and considering it doesn't carry troops and can't move this seems very over priced to me! Yes it's a cool emplacement, but it's also a sitting duck! The pipes are pipes...! It's effectively $65 AUS worth of cover, but if you're building a huge game board these would look really cool and give a 4+ cover save!
Kitbash an Onager Dunewalker. Go on! It'd be awesome.
Nope? Want to rehash last week's colours? Okay!
Again... how about some kitbashing? That's now 3 pages that could have been used for that!
Verdict
Apart from 'Eavy Metal though, the rest of the issue is a bit ho-hum.
Sad to say. Flip a coin - your call!
