 | Happy White Dwarf Day! You know when I first got into 40K I wasn't really sure what a Librarian does in that universe and more so, what the Hell were they doing on the battlefield? I assumed they had something to do with books an I knew they were blue (silly idea that!) but what did they do - read the troops bedtime stories at night? It wasn't until I really delved into it that I worked out they were Psykers (still didn't explain why they were blue!). So this week sees the release of a new Librarian in Terminator Armour (they're still sticking with blue), and speaking of blue, the Ultramarines Painting Guide, Sons of Ultramar gets a run too. So with just two releases next week, what else is in this week's issue of White Dwarf? Here he is in all his glory, the new Librarian in Terminator Armour. He comes with alternate hands - Storm Bolter or a really cool hand. Recently Games Workshop have been doing some really good hands. It has never been their strong point, but I have to give credit where credit is due, some nice work here!

Painting guides from GW have been a bit hit and miss and it will be interesting to see where this one lies in terms of quality. It's smaller than some of the more recent ones at 120 pages BUT at $33 AUD it's also at the cheap end of the scale.
They've done something interesting with the Digital version - you can get the guide per unit. That's quite a cool idea really.
What isn't explained here is if any of the Successor Chapters are also covered. I mean how much blue can you have? On the subject of blue, the new releases from the last few weeks have been some of the best Ultramarines I've seen in a White Dwarf. Really crisp and clean!!

Did you know you can buy Space Marines from Games Workshop? Well if you didn't, this is the article for you; Assembling The Strike Force. The Strike Force is seemingly THE formation of choice from GW at the moment. With a more flexible structure than the Codex Astartes it's understandable - but isn't it funny they choose to explain it with Ultramarines, the strictest adhere-ers to the Codex Astartes out there!
Forge World get to show off their Solar Auxilia Tactical Command Section. GREAT looking miniatures. It's such a pity that Forge World have run out of paint in recent times. If only they knew somewhere that could paint these lovely miniatures for them...

The Games Workshop studio team have rolled out some Psykers for this issue, all really nicely done, including a Death Guard Sorcerer which is interesting! In a nice touch there is actually a bit of backstory for each miniature. Love the idea of characters and these powerful individuals are perfect to showcase that!

The Librarius Conclave is a formation of 3-5 Librarians which basically gives each Librarian the ability to use the others powers if they are 12" from each other. This could be quite handy!! Watch out Tyranids...

Psychic Warfare sees the afore mentioned Conclave go up against a number of foes; Orks, Necrons, Tyranids and Khorne.
Yet another article about Space Marine armour. Nothing new, but the breakdown is a bit fun if you haven't really paid that close attention before. gain, some really nice and clean miniatures!
'Eavy Metal looks at different skin tones. This might be more effective with some more room dedicated to it, but then again the tips are handy too.
.. and here it is Sons of Dorn - Warlord Traits for Crimson Fists and Black Templars. You would think that you could translate this to your own Chapter if they were a Successor of one of these too.

With only two releases next week they have spread the content out quite well.
The Librarian background and fluff is quite interesting, but seriously, couldn't they just have a different name? "Warp Drivers"? "Force Marines"?? God - something that makes them sound scary.
Anyway... so yes there's a bit of stuff in here, but it's not super important to have this unless you want the Warlord Traits, the rest in terms of rules, are in the new Codex Space Marines - which I had a look at today and wasn't that impressed!
