Potentially the worst kept secret this year, but Warhammer is back, bigger and badder and... well there's a lot of talk and really not much action here. There have been leaks (more after the jump) but any official look and word has been non-existent and this issue of White Dwarf which is pretty much dominated by it has ZERO new content. You would think that with such an important relaunch and massive change to the look of the miniatures that they would at least throw us a bone - OR just deluge us with new stuff. Shock and Awe!! Well unfortunately that's not what we get. This issue is, yes, dominated by Warhammer but as for new releases - if some books and an Eldar Jetbike Host are it then maybe you need to look at something to satiate people's thirst. So what do you get? Well there's some Dark Angels stuff, many pages on Warhammer & a nice Ultramarines force. Want to know more? + + More After The Jump + + |
Noitce the hammer and lightning bolts we've seen in the preview pictures are on the shields of Sigmar's guys, and speaking of which, what a huge change to the look of Warhammer!! It's like 40k crossed with Warhammer, and maybe that's the idea?!
There's flying troops for the Empire (if that's what they are still called) and Chaos has new Warriors and something that looks 100 times better than those awful Khorne miniatures released recently.
At the very top of the Empire picture, have a look at the new scenery - they look like portals - so I assume they have some kind of game dynamic as well as fluff.
As reported, Heroes have a lot to do with this new version of Warhammer and it looks like there are some mighty ones for Chaos and the Empire...
Armour of Faith is about armoured Smurfs... but seriously it's Ultramarines in part 3 of the Plagues of Orath series. Deathfire is about those other green Space Marines, the Salamanders. It's a great cover and when you think about it there aren't that many green Space Marine Chapters.
Warhammer Visions is out next week, so there's a preview here including a Blanchitsu with Dark Eldar in it - THERE CAN'T BE ENOUGH EXCLAMATION MARKS TO EXPRESS THE ANTICIPATION
Included in the article are a timeline of Edition releases, some heroes and villains spotlighted and a small column on Gotrek & Felix - bless them!!
As much as I'm a bit sick and tired of Ultramarines, it's really nice to see the amount of detail and character that he has put into these models. Looking at them you don't feel like they have been batch painted, there is more of a life to them than that. It must be said though that the pictures they chose aren't the most dynamic, especially for such an interesting force!
A look at some other race's heroes (or villains depending who you are).
vERDICT
Seriously, put some shots of the new MASSIVE Titan in, or some Warhammer World shots - come on!
- Bit of a yawn -
