Each week they have hit the target and this week is no exception, with the release of the new Tau Battlesuit Set and the Tau Commander - both updates on two venerable and iconic kits. In this week's White Dwarf, they both get an update with the Commander gaining height plus added articulation, and the Crisis Battlesuits now being able to bust out some moves with full articulation as well - hips, legs, arms and more - and for what seems like an unusually fair price! Also in this week's issue we get Tau books, including a Painting Guide, a rehashed Codex, decals, more minis, Data Cards (for White Scars and Raven Guard too), Forge World's massive new Mechanicus vehicle and a partridge in a pear tree. First lead, then white metal, then Finecast, now plastic, the Tau Commander Battlesuit has been through a few incarnations in terms of material used to make it, but the design has been almost entirely identical. As with the earlier XV8 Crisis Battlesuits, this kit has 3 models with what seems like a plethora of options, in fact it seems like you don;'t have to choose who gets what weapons because there is identical layout options for each model! With new articulation, shoulder armour and an added hardpoint (and not the type of hard point you're thinking of you cheeky minx) these Crisis battlesuits are so completely cool!
At $125 for the 3 I'm thinking that's not horrible considering the unit size you will be using and their place in your force organisation.
This new kit also comes with the XV8-02 Iridium upgrade for one of your suits (above right in red) which is particularly bulky and comes with a super-sexy curved head.

Great so see Drones being available separately after my recent joy at making one. There's also the Tau Painting Guide which you would hope would be better than some recent ones. The first ones were amazing, but recently have really died off! Tau Datacards are of course also in the mix, with new ones for White Scars and Raven Guard.

Forge World's MASSIVE Ordinatus Ulator gets a double page spread with what looks like a bit of a rushed paint job - granted anything under a year would probably be rushed!! Not that impressed frankly...

'Eavy Metal is a bit crushed in towards the back, but we get these two nice models - the Space Wolf using the original colour scheme as planned form the late 90s. Interesting to see how the scheme has changed.
Armies On Parade 2015 is at a close, so time to roll out the finished armies.

Verdict
So if you like new releases - THIS is the issue for you.It's basically like Xmas time when you get all those catalogues in the mail... except I circled everything in this issue.
Now, as far as that goes, it is what it is - BUT the writing isn't that exciting. It's okay. I think as they get to the end of a release and they're actually working on the next thing, then this seems less important. They are however very informative, the parts breakdowns for the battlesuits is very helpful for example!
As far as the issue as a whole, I'd say definitely worth a look..
