There has been some chatter on the various fan boy/girl forums this week that although this is the week before Xmas, there are no new Games Workshop products being released - shock horror! The next logical conclusion would be to ask what is in this week's White Dwarf if there's no new product? White Dwarf has increasingly become a catalogue of the next week's release and moving away from the hobby articles. Sure there is fluff and some tutorials, but they all centre around the new releases. So this week was going to be interesting, and it is - this week White Dwarf returns to the magazine of old. Yes there is some obvious tie-ins with newer products, but there's no real "sell" in here - it's all about the hobby - and I have to say it's a very welcome return! I wonder if the younger readers will notice a difference? + + More After The Jump + + |
For the keen-eyed observer, you may recognise these guys from the Sons of Ultramar: Painting Guide
Sons of Horus (using the new Forge World airbrush colour), Death Guard, Salamanders, Raven Guard and the World Eaters (with some War Hounds markings on their knees which is interesting!).
This is mainly a showcase of the Forge World conversion sets on top of Betrayal At Calth miniatures. You wouldn't know it at first glance, so obviously the conversion sets are pretty effective.
This article looks at some of the nice artwork, which you'd have to say is pretty epic in proportions.
That Archaon and Varanguard one (left) is amazing!!
Well here you go - throw a Daemon Prince in there and see how those lycra-clad show ponies like it.
The sub-assembly at the top of the page is interesting too - not a bad idea...
The back section has a few gems this week, actually.

Pot of Paint Vs. White Dwarf?
White Dwarf for me!
