Games Workshop's Warhammer Age of Sigmar has been dominating the releases for the last couple of weeks and hidden in the background of many of the shots was a whole new line of pretty cool looking scenery. Well the first of it has been released today; the Ophsidian Gate and the Baleful Realmgates, both quite detailed and a whole new look for Games Workshop terrain. Games Workshop have had terrain for some years - but it's never really taken off, probably due people not wanting to spend large amounts of money on scenery. The look of the Baleful Realmgates has changed a bit since we first saw them - originally they had green spooky stuff coming out of them, making them look similar to the Nagash releases, but in the past week or so they have changed that colour to yellow. Last week we discussed that and the eerie similarity these gates now have to an iconic sci-fi character. Do you want to know more? + + More After The Jump + + |

If you were a fan of the old Planetfall miniatures from Spartan games you would know how very cool they were. Then the miniatures disappeared with a promise of a brand new line of miniatures and a new game. Now the new game and miniatures line is around, there have been some grumbles about the look of them! They certainly are a departure from the original miniatures. You may have seen our review of two of the line at the time; the Terran Goliaths and the Terran Nidhogg AA Tank. Not only were the minis cool, the concept art and model renders were also really detailed (below). But the new miniatures don't seem to have the same feel (below)... I know a few people (myself included) who were waiting eagerly for the relaunch of Planetfall, but none I have spoken to have been very impressed with what we have seen so far.
What do you think? Did you prefer the old look to Planetfall or does this new version work for you?
My friend Rob who is making some Firestorm Armada reported the same thing about bonding.
Not only doesn't it bond that well, it seems to lack some detail compared to other companies. You might remember a little while back we asked Spartan Games where the Planetfall/ Firestorm Invasion models had gone to on their site. Well today there was an answer of sorts.
Here it is - in all it's test-scheme completely confused non-glory...
Hot on the heels of my order to The Combat Company today (did I mention they're opening a warehouse BTW? I did? - right then...) I found this amongst my Mountain of Minis. It's just a teaser with a few base colours - stay tuned for updates
Earlier this week, Spartan Games moved their store around and guess what dropped off - Planetfall. What exquisite timing!
But today they threw up a splash page all about Planetfall, which is awesome, but they seem to have left the products off their store! So how do I buy more?? Boooo...
Planetfall by Spartan Games is the planetary version of their Firestorm Armada game and looks damn cool.
There's a fair bit of concept art out there, and enticed by the look of them I've recently done a small order. |
