| Over the past week I've been working on part of a unit of Chaos Warriors and it turned into a bit of an exercise in something I've not done much of before - batch painting! People who build armies do it all the time and I'm always impressed when they also manage to keep character in each model. That was my secondary task! Incidentally, these guys are actually going to be a faction in my mercenary force so aren't allied to Chaos as such. ++ More After The Jump ++ |

We all have our fanboy/ fangirl moments - but this video that Games Workshop put up on their Age of $igmar Facebook page is so cool in that it captures that moment - infectiously!
It is all of us, at some point, but with WAY cooler hair. I'm legitimately jealous of this guy's hair! There was a time, Fellow Traveler, that Chaos Warriors came in all colours. Of course the now standard Games Workshop black and of course some red, but also blue and yellow and pink and green, purple and orange and... oh I already said blue! These were the days of a more characterful (not a real word, so I copyright it!) Chaos Warrior. Some of them had names and they were coming off the back of what were called Chaos Champions, a hangover from the days of collaboration between Games Workshop, D&D and TSR. Now I've always been a bit of a sucker for a Chaos Warrior in green - they just look cool! In the current universe, I guess these would be Chaos Undivided, certainly not one with the current pantheon of Gods - a once battle-hardened and noble warrior filled with the desire to conquer in the only way he knows how - with blood and iron!. It was actually great fun to go for this older look again. The base is Caliban Green with a wash of Abaddon Black, the highlight is a mix of the base and Gretchin Green. The palette is purposely very restricted in keeping with the style of his roots way back in the late 80s. I hope you like this little experiment in colouring - who knows, maybe yellow is next! There's a challenge...
So what do you think of the Grand Alliances? Have you fiddled with them? Have you found some holes that don't quite make sense?
Keen to hear your thoughts...
The Age of Sigma boxed game is out - and what a box it is!! Come have a look at what we thought of it and also a little bit on the wider Age of Sigmar experience.
I can't take credit for these pics - they come from Big Red on the Bell of Lost Souls forum - but they are too cool not to post here for your viewing.
I did blow the pictures up a bit so you can hopefully get a better look of these images that are straight from the pages of White Dwarf, which is to be released this Saturday. Those Khorne models are a huge step up and will be on the wishlist of every Chaos acolyte! The winged Prosecutors are also very cool, with the beefy Liberators a match for any Chaos Warrior! Unfortunately they aren't multi-pose and are designed to go together in a set configuration. Here's hoping this isn't the case for the upcoming kits to be released outside the boxed game miniatures.
