With Warhammer The Age of Sigmar taking the lion's share of the spotlight at the moment, it will be interesting to see how long Games Workshop will keep White Dwarf being dominated by it. Again this week, White Dwarf is 99% Age of Sigmar with the exception of the Forge World section and some books for pre-order. It's also interesting to see that despite the scenery being released this week that there isn't more of it in this issue, especially for the price - but more on that in our Baleful Realmgate Review. Not only is the issue dominated by Age of Sigmar, Games Workshop are holding new releases very close to their chest with no hints or teasers in this issue at all - and considering what they cover, that is strange AND clever. So - what's new in the Age of Sigmar? + + More After The Jump + + |

Being the first Saturday of the month not only do we get White Dwarf we also get Warhammer Visions, the monthly "hobbyist-based" magazine from Games Workshop. Warhammer Visions changed it's format two weeks ago to a larger magazine size rather than the digest size it had been for over a year. Initially I was .skeptical and probably mainly because the bookshelf wouldn't look as cool now rather than anything else. But as content is king it's all about what's between the cover. The changed size also gave GW an opportunity to get change some things in the magazine, add some new content and change it up. That hasn't happened yet! So what do you get in this issue of Warhammer Visions? Some bloody big photos - most of which are very good and if you've loved this month's worth of releases then you will like this issue. There's also Golden Demon 2014 and two awesome armies. But is it any good? Read on... The confirmation of a new Devastator squad being released hit the day after the announcement of the Assault squad - that has to be a world record. With recent rumours that GW is behind much of the leaks to the forums, it's interesting that they might choose this path. That being said it may have backfired because the buzz on the Devastators has not been as intense as you'd expect, especially for a Space Marine release! This week's White Dwarf, interestingly isn't dominated by their release though, instead it's all about Codex: Space Marines. With no fewer than 8 versions of the Codex to buy you'd better hope business was being drummed up. This week's White Dwarf is very much dominated by Space Marines, but aimed at the knowledgeable hobbyist AND the newbie with articles on markings and force structure! So, do you think you NEED this issue? + + More After The Jump + + It's White Dwarf Day and also the final issue dedicated to the releases of the expanding forces of the Adeptus Mechanicus and they have certainly ended with a bang - this issue has so many releases you will need to mortgage the cat to afford everything next week! How's this for a list: Tech-Priest Dominus, Corpuscarii Electro-Priests, Fulgurite Electro-Priests, Codex Adeptus Mechanicus, Datacards, three Mechanicus Transfer sheets, Legions of the Omnissiah Painting Guide, and the Crusaders of the Machine God Painting Guide...! So all that is in this issue as well as more exhaustive background on the Cult Mechanicus and the Legions of the Omnissiah, a Theatre of War article on the massive formation; the War Convocation, plus rules for the new releases. It's a tour de force! Want a look inside? + + More After the Jump + +
Assassins in the Warhammer 40K universe have popped in and out of fashion fro some years. They do have counterparts in the Warhammer universe, with Skaven and Dark Elves amongst others having troops of a similar role - but 40K really steeps their Assassins in 40K lore. They are the killing hand of the High Lords of Terra, the shadow in the deep of the night with a keen blade or the sniper's bullet in the middle of a Planetary Governor's rally - efficient killing machines finely honed to do the dirty work when the massed armies of the Imperial Guard or the shock and awe of the Space Marines is not needed. This week's White Dwarf revolves around these Assassins and next week's release of Assassinorum Execution Force, a Space Hulk-esque set that will surely spawn add-ons and the like for years to come - but will the gaming public care or is it just a bit too niche and way to expensive? + + More After The Jump + +
