With Warhammer The Age of Sigmar taking the lion's share of the spotlight at the moment, it will be interesting to see how long Games Workshop will keep White Dwarf being dominated by it. Again this week, White Dwarf is 99% Age of Sigmar with the exception of the Forge World section and some books for pre-order. It's also interesting to see that despite the scenery being released this week that there isn't more of it in this issue, especially for the price - but more on that in our Baleful Realmgate Review. Not only is the issue dominated by Age of Sigmar, Games Workshop are holding new releases very close to their chest with no hints or teasers in this issue at all - and considering what they cover, that is strange AND clever. So - what's new in the Age of Sigmar? + + More After The Jump + + |

WAAAAY back in November 2013 we decided to get some of the skulls from Blood & Skulls Industry to have a bit of a play with and absolutely LOVED them - especially for the price! At the time they were being used on some of the Righteous Harbinger Space Marines, but with the old Armorcast War Hound starting to take shape, we found the perfect opportunity top use them. The original skulls moulded onto the titan aren't the best, frankly, so using the small and medium skulls to replace them proved to be not only easy, but really effective in updating the look of this venerable and large miniature. On something this big, even the smallest details are obvious! Blood & Skulls make three sizes of skull (left) - small, medium and large and are not only really smooth and well shaped with no flaws what so ever, they are also crisp and clean and take a fair few coats before you lose any detail! You can also see the skulls placed onto the War Hound (right) and how well they fit.
I really like these skulls and would recommend them to anyone looking to add decorative bits to scenery, troops, and especially vehicles - because who the Hell wants to hand paint all those bastards?! The Age of Sigma boxed game is out - and what a box it is!! Come have a look at what we thought of it and also a little bit on the wider Age of Sigmar experience.
The MKVI Space Marine armour is iconic! In most Games Workshop artwork it has been superseded by the MKVII armour with it's rounded shapes and pig-nosed helmet, but love for the MKVI still resides with certain Chapters of the Adeptus Astartes and in the hearts of many Beardys who remember it as the very first Space Marine kit! The MK VI has three halmarks; the beakie helmet, the long greaves and the studded shoulder pad. In the years where we saw very little MKVI product, the studded shoulder disappeared almost all together, but in an age where The Horus Heresy is in vogue, everything that is old is new again with studded shoulders turning up on all sorts of Space Marines. Luckily enough there is no need to stick to the standard kind, because Master Crafted Miniatures have a range of MKVI compatible shoulder to deck your troops out in! + + More After The Jump + +
Being the first Saturday of the month not only do we get White Dwarf we also get Warhammer Visions, the monthly "hobbyist-based" magazine from Games Workshop. Warhammer Visions changed it's format two weeks ago to a larger magazine size rather than the digest size it had been for over a year. Initially I was .skeptical and probably mainly because the bookshelf wouldn't look as cool now rather than anything else. But as content is king it's all about what's between the cover. The changed size also gave GW an opportunity to get change some things in the magazine, add some new content and change it up. That hasn't happened yet! So what do you get in this issue of Warhammer Visions? Some bloody big photos - most of which are very good and if you've loved this month's worth of releases then you will like this issue. There's also Golden Demon 2014 and two awesome armies. But is it any good? Read on... The confirmation of a new Devastator squad being released hit the day after the announcement of the Assault squad - that has to be a world record. With recent rumours that GW is behind much of the leaks to the forums, it's interesting that they might choose this path. That being said it may have backfired because the buzz on the Devastators has not been as intense as you'd expect, especially for a Space Marine release! This week's White Dwarf, interestingly isn't dominated by their release though, instead it's all about Codex: Space Marines. With no fewer than 8 versions of the Codex to buy you'd better hope business was being drummed up. This week's White Dwarf is very much dominated by Space Marines, but aimed at the knowledgeable hobbyist AND the newbie with articles on markings and force structure! So, do you think you NEED this issue? + + More After The Jump + +
Master Crafted are at it again with a new set of spiked shoulder pads for Space Marines. You may have seen our review a short time ago on the Veteran Spiked Shoulders, and I received my second shipment today so I thought you might like a look! As you may know, I am building a War Hounds force, the progenitors to the World Eaters. I wanted to create some kind of visual link between the two Legions and War Hounds also had some spiked elements to their armour, even though. Forge World told me in an email that the War Hounds had some spiked armour, but weren't as spikey as the World Eaters Having been so impressed with the Veteran Spiked Shoulders I bought previously, I can't help but use them a little bit - and with this new lot, there will be some more! So, here's a look at Master Crafted's new Spiked Shoulders. + + More After The Jump + + It's White Dwarf Day and also the final issue dedicated to the releases of the expanding forces of the Adeptus Mechanicus and they have certainly ended with a bang - this issue has so many releases you will need to mortgage the cat to afford everything next week! How's this for a list: Tech-Priest Dominus, Corpuscarii Electro-Priests, Fulgurite Electro-Priests, Codex Adeptus Mechanicus, Datacards, three Mechanicus Transfer sheets, Legions of the Omnissiah Painting Guide, and the Crusaders of the Machine God Painting Guide...! So all that is in this issue as well as more exhaustive background on the Cult Mechanicus and the Legions of the Omnissiah, a Theatre of War article on the massive formation; the War Convocation, plus rules for the new releases. It's a tour de force! Want a look inside? + + More After the Jump + +
